NOW Festival Showcases ‘Art in Time of Conflict’

Capital University will present “Art in Time of Conflict,” a showcase of performances, lectures, and art by guest artists, students, faculty, and staff in the annual NOW Festival, Feb. 8-18.

The Festival kickoff will feature Ukrainian composer-in-residence Alla Zagaykevych in an engaging discussion with Classical 101’s Christopher Purdy on Sunday, Feb. 11, at the Bexley Public Library. Zagaykevych’s insights into her creative process and music making, as well as a robust cultural scene of the present-day Ukraine – a country under attack – will demonstrate the resilience of art and the human spirit during the challenges of wartime.

The annual NOW Festival at Capital University is one of the most comprehensive and diversified celebrations of contemporary art and its creators in the Midwest. Since its founding in 1987, the Festival has one simple yet extremely important mission: to expose the Central Ohio community to international, national, and regional living artists and their work, exposing, exploring, and discussing the role of music in contemporary society.

Entry deadline: Friday, Feb. 2

If cooking isn’t your thing, come help judge and mingle with your colleagues over hot chili and cold drinks! This year we’re looking for the top three best chilies out there. First place will walk away with a trophy, but all three will have bragging rights for the next year. (With three wins in his trophy case, Jeff Cisco is the man to beat!)

If you are interested in entering your homemade chili, email the Faculty/Staff Campus Connection Team by Friday, Feb. 2. Include your name, your entry’s name, and note if it will be spicy, vegetarian/vegan, or another category.

We’d also appreciate an RSVP even if you just want to be a taster (or a mingler), so we have an idea of how many are planning to attend.

For more information or to get involved, contact an FSCC team member.

Review Your First-of-the-Year Pay Statements

As we start the new year, it’s very important all employees take the time to review their first-of-the-year Earnings Statements in myCAP to ensure all 2024 benefit and other elections are accurate. If you have any questions regarding your benefit deductions or other elections, please contact Ashley Huff (Benefits) or Renee Bergman (Payroll).

Tax Form Reminder & W-2 Information

As required by the IRS, we are reminding all employees to review their W-4 status and to file a new W-4 if your filing status has changed. If you are claiming “exempt” on your W-4 form, you must complete a new form by Feb. 15, 2024. Failure to complete a new W-4 will result in loss of your exempt status. For your convenience, you will find downloadable copies of the W-4 and IT-4 (state tax form) at http://www.capital.edu/Payroll/.

If you have not already done so, please consider receiving this year’s W-2 online. To elect this option, complete the online CONSENT (MyCAP>Employee>Tax Information) to view and print your W-2 forms! Besides immediate availability, it’s a tremendous cost savings to Capital as it will reduce the number of physical W-2s we have to print, process and mail.

Paper copies of W-2s will be postmarked and mailed no later than Jan. 31, 2024, for former employees and those who do not consent to receive online copies.

HSA - Changes to Employer Contributions

As a reminder, the full annual employer HSA contribution will be added to eligible employee accounts by the end of January after all payrolls have been completed (rather than incrementally throughout the year).
