The Play That Goes Wrong

Follow the members of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society as they grapple with set collapses, forgotten lines, missed cues, and outlandish mishaps that escalate into a riotous whirlwind of comedic chaos in "The Play That Goes Wrong," written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, and directed by Daniel W. Heaton, professor of Communication. Covid Vaccination Registration Ends Friday

Human Resources and Avita Health System are teaming up to offer Covid booster vaccinations for Capital University employees and students. Registration is required by Friday, Oct. 27.

If you are insured through the Leading Edge SPP, your vaccination is covered at 100 percent. However, if you are covered by another health insurance plan, you are still eligible to participate in this clinic and your insurance company will be billed accordingly.

If you are a student without medical insurance coverage, please contact the health department or local chain pharmacy for an appointment for a free vaccination at that location.

We do need to provide Avita Health Systems with an accurate count as to how many vaccinations to bring to the clinics. Therefore, employees and students do need to pre-register for the event using the link below. Registration will end on Friday, Oct. 27. Please note that only the Pfizer and Moderna vaccinations will be available at this clinic.

Commemorate Kristallnacht at the JCC Jewish Film Festival

The Capital community is invited to commemorate Kristallnacht, two days of antisemitic violence that occurred in Nazi Germany in November 1938. This year’s event is sponsored by the Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus, Jewish Community Relations Council of Columbus, and Trinity Lutheran Seminary and will be part of the JCC’s Jewish Film Festival.

Thursday, Nov. 9

7 p.m.

JCC of Greater Columbus

1125 College Ave.

The film that will be shown is “Vishniac,” which takes us on a journey through photographer Roman Vishniac’s life, from pre-war Berlin to the shtetlach in Poland and Lithuania, and his time in Princeton with Albert Einstein. His achievements in art and science, especially his images of pre-Holocaust Jewish life in Central and Eastern Europe, serve as the last visual records of a vanished era. The film explores both the man behind the photos and the surprising chapters of his life.

CU Alumni - Have You Told Your Capital Story?

Each member of the #capfam has a story to tell – including those alumni who are current Capital faculty and staff. We are partnering with Publishing Concepts (PCI) to contact to collect your stories, ensuring those memories are captured in perpetuity.

You should have received a communication from PCI requesting you connect with them to confirm your information and to share your alumni story. These information requests will come via email and postcards, sharing the ways in which you can connect with PCI.

Once collected, your story would be documented in a printed book, which will contain stories from other Capital community members and showcase the rich oral history of Capital.

There is no cost for participating and telling your Capital story, but PCI will offer you an opportunity to reserve a physical copy of the story text for purchase.

More information on how to participate, including FAQs, can be found here.

Of course, we are biased, but we believe we've got the best alumni out there.

Among them are Deirdre DeWeese ’99, who is empowering the next generation of women through her work with the Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland, and Chris Farrenholz ’03, who has always pursued challenges with purpose, whether it’s summiting Kilimanjaro or shedding light on the global water crisis.

Capital Oral History Project

Alumni will be contacted by our project partner, Publishing Concepts, to participate in the Capital University Oral History Project. This is an opportunity for alumni to share their story! More information about the project and how to participate can be found here.
