The Project Indigo leadership team is looking for your Project Indigo story. We are interested in learning how our students, faculty, and staff are using their iPad in learning, co-curricular, and work-related activities. Last fall, we shared Project Indigo Stories from Athletics, Nursing, Art, and the Music, but we are looking to share additional ways you are incorporating your iPad into your college life! Title IX Mandatory Training
|
|
Capital University is committed to ensuring that members of our campus community are free from discrimination based on gender, which is outlined under Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972. Our goal is to reduce the risk of all forms of discrimination by raising awareness about sexual misconduct, dating violence, and stalking.
As a part of our commitment to eliminating sexual discrimination, the University requires all employees and students to complete annual Title IX training, which is online, engaging, and informative. The course provides important information related to identifying and responding to sensitive and difficult situations. Training must be completed by Friday, March 17, 2023. You received an email on Feb. 6 from Capital University through an @safecolleges.com email address with instructions on how to access and complete the training.

Student Abstract-Writing Workshop
|
|
Students, are you planning to submit a proposal to Capital University’s Symposium on Undergraduate Scholarship or another conference? Would you like some help preparing your abstract? Then this workshop is just for you!
How to Write a Good Abstract
Wednesday, Feb. 15
4 p.m.
We will review the expected content of a good abstract and discuss tips for meeting the word length requirements.
This workshop is scheduled around the submission deadline for Capital’s Symposium on Undergraduate Scholarship, but all students who are working on abstracts for conferences are welcome to attend. Symposium abstracts are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, March 3. The Symposium will be held on Wednesday, April 19.

Call for Nominations: Professors Hall of Honor
|
|
Each year, the Provost’s Office recognizes and honors outstanding current and former professors at our yearly spring awards. The Professors Hall of Honor, along with the Faculty Scholarship Lecture, Praestantia Reflection, and the investiture of the 2023 emeriti, will be held at our Celebration of Excellence, on Tuesday, April 11, at 4 p.m.
Faculty can nominate former colleagues to be inducted to the Professors Hall of Honor. Click here for award criteria and the nomination form. We will retain nominations of those not selected this year for consideration for future awards.

COVID and Flu Vaccine Clinic

The University is hosting a COVID booster and flu vaccine clinics for all Capital students, faculty, and staff.
Thursday, Feb. 23
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Schneider South, Student Union
The vaccines/boosters being offered are:
- Pfizer Bivalent COVID-19 booster
- Moderna Bivalent COVID-19 booster
- Flu shot
Sign up for a time slot for the date of the clinic you will attend:
Bring your insurance card and COVID vaccination record card, if you have it. There is no charge for the COVID booster. If you have insurance, there will be no charge for the flu vaccine; if you do not have insurance, there will be a $40 fee for the flu vaccine.

Capital received two honors at the annual conference of the Ohio College Personnel Association.
- Jenny Vrobel, associate director of Career Development, received the Mid-Level Professional Award.
- Jennifer Adams, director of International Education, and Jenny Vrobel received the Innovative Program Award for their international student career course, Career Development Through an International Lens.
University Pastor Drew Tucker’s first book, “4D Formation: Exploration Vocation in Community,” was included in the “Best of 2022” list of Fortress Press.

University Pastor Drew Tucker was a guest on Ten Foot Pole podcast, exploring the concept of curses and blessings from Deuteronomy 30:15-20.
Columbus Business First wrote about Capital’s decision to sell its Main Street apartments.
The Columbus Dispatch gave The Schumacher Gallery’s “Dignity: Tribes in Transition” and “… of Black Skin” top billing in its list of not-to-miss celebrations of Black History Month.
The Columbus Dispatch interviewed Capital University Law School Assistant Professor Robert Barnhart about how laws passed in 2019 and 2021 by the Ohio General Assembly make it easier for defendants to claim they used force in self-defense.

If you have suffered a loss or are experiencing grief, please consider joining us for opportunities to find comfort, hope, and healing in a safe and supportive group environment. Grief support groups do not replace individual professional care, but meeting with others facing similar challenges can be beneficial in offering support and promoting healing.
