TEXTBOOK ORDERING
The Capital Bookstore staff recommends ordering books before classes start to make sure you are prepared from day one. Waiting until after classes have started to purchase textbooks is ill-advised.

They would also like to remind everyone that the textbook aisles are closed for safety reasons. Placing your order online for in-store pickup is the fastest and easiest way to purchase your materials for the fall semester. To ensure your order is processed before the term starts, please order online no later than Friday, Aug. 20.

You may also purchase books in-store; however, you must bring a printed or handwritten copy of your class schedule. Counter service is the only option available for in-store purchases. A member of the Bookstore staff will use your schedule to pull your books and will bring them to a cash register for you to check out. You cannot purchase books in-store if you do not bring your schedule.
SUPPORT CAP CUPBOARD
The Cap Cupboard, Capital University’s food resource center, provides free and accessible food and hygiene items to all Capital students with need – including students at Trinity Lutheran Seminary and the Law School.

Please help us stock the pantry. The most-needed food items are canned fruits and vegetables, Easy Mac cups, ramen noodles, and canned soups. Pick up a few items the next time you go to the grocery and drop them off at the Office of Student and Community Engagement in the Student Union. Or make a donation via the Cap Cupboard Amazon Wish List and have it delivered directly to the Cupboard.

VACCINATION STATUS REPORTING
Capital University is committed to the health and safety of our community. As part of the University’s fall COVID protocols, reporting of vaccination status is requested of all vaccinated students, faculty, and staff. The University strongly encourages but does not require students, faculty, and staff to get a COVID vaccination; however, having vaccination information is essential to our efforts to provide a safe University environment.

Individuals are asked to provide information on vaccination status and upload an image of their vaccine verification card using a brief Qualtrics survey HERE.

If you do not provide your vaccination status, you will need to follow the COVID protocols for unvaccinated individuals.
Vaccination information will be kept confidential and only used to assist the COVID Response Team with contact tracing, determining need to quarantine when someone is exposed, determining the need for COVID surveillance testing or testing for university housing, and in the aggregate for planning.

Get Capital’s current COVID protocols HERE.
ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT UPDATES
Homecoming 2021
Please make sure to save the date for Homecoming Weekend 2021, October 28-30! Events include a pre-game tailgate hosted by the Office of Alumni Engagement featuring free food, caricature artists, and giveaways leading up to the football game against Otterbein. Watch for details!

Capital Exchange
Capital Breakfast Briefings will have a new look and a new name! After receiving positive feedback from our virtual sessions, we have decided to retain the virtual format and change the event time to the lunch hour, which will allow attendees in other states to participate. Capital Exchange is a chance for alumni to hear from our faculty and staff about their research, projects across campus, and the amazing things our students are doing every day in the classroom and community. Please keep an eye out for our first Capital Exchange event in an upcoming Capital You!
LET EVERYBODY KNOW WHO YOU ARE
Are you a new employee? Are your business cards outdated? Lost your name badge? Let everybody know who you are with Capital business cards and/or a name badge.

Go to the Faculty and Staff webpage, scroll down to Campus Services and fill out the forms under “Order Business Cards” or “Order Name Badges.” Versions are available for Law School, Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and Bexley campus employees. All you need is your 20-digit department account number.
SPORTS RECAP
CAPITAL UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL READY TO GET UNDERWAY
Entering the first full season under the leadership of Head Coach Brian Foos, the Capital University football team is poised to compete among the best of best on the field. The team will be looking to put an end to a disappointing 14-game streak of losses and get back to winning ways among the ever-tough Ohio Athletic Conference.

Capital returns all five All-Conference selections from last season, with just one entering his senior year. Those selections include Nick Fisanick, Aralius Walters, Kameron Lee, Jack Blaisdell, and Brady Kuhn.

Walters, who was a top defensive player for the Purple and White last season, will make the jump to the offensive side of the ball as a wide receiver this season, joining the likes of Lee and Mike Smith as top targets in the passing game.

Returning under center are both Luke McClelland and Ben Everson. The pair split time calling the shots offensively last year and will be challenged by fierce competition among a crowded quarterback room to get the starting nod this year.

Fisanick, who paced the team in tackles during last year’s shortened season, will bring the force in the middle of the defense. Other stout tacklers returning include Balor Appiarius, Kobe Swackhammer, Matt Lauofo, Maxamus Vujaklija, Jack Blaisdell and Dez Turkson.
