MLK SPIRIT AWARD NOMINATIONS
Capital University’s Student Government is accepting nominations for the 2022 Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit Award. The award is given to one Capital University senior in good academic standing who exemplifies leadership on and off-campus through service, authenticity, courage, and excellence.

HAPPY HANUKKAH!
Join the Capital University community to light the menorah and hear the ancient story of faithfulness to celebrate Hanukkah. Under the leadership of rabbinical student Seth Truman, we will then gather in Blackmore 110 for kosher refreshments to commemorate the holiday and welcome Shabbat. (In, Judaism, a day of rest that lasts from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset.)

Faculty and students from the School of Education invite you to attend an Art Show and Reception presented with the Homer and Isabelle Cotterman Endowment.

The show will feature recent works by Dr. Martha Michael, professor of Education and holder of the Homer and Isabelle Cotterman Endowed Chair, and art education K-12 licensure students Nic Hearl, Kenzie Davis, and Carlyn Perez.
A reading by poet Roy Bentley will begin at 4:30 p.m. His poems have appeared in “Blackbird,” “Shenandoah,” “Rattle,” “The Southern Review” and “Prairie Schooner.” Bentley is the recipient of a Creative Writing Fellowship from the National Endowment of the Arts, as well as fellowships from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs and the Ohio Arts Council.

31st ANNUAL MLK DAY OF LEARNING
Capital University will present its 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Learning on Monday, Jan. 17. The theme of the 2022 event is “This Little Light of Mine.” Students, faculty, staff, and members of the community are encouraged to attend the keynote, engage with fellow learners in workshops, and participate in the service activity.

GET YOUR CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL TICKETS |
It’s not too late to purchase tickets for “Break forth into,” this year’s Christmas Festival concerts featuring the Chapel Choir, Choral Union, Cantabile, Consort, Philomel, and a variety of instrumentalists. Performances will be held in Mees Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, Friday, Dec. 3, and Saturday, Dec. 4. The performance on Sunday, Dec. 5, will begin at 3:30 p.m.

STUDENT SUPERVISOR END-OF-YEAR HELPFUL HINTS
- Student timesheet deadlines are Monday, Dec. 13, and Monday, Dec. 27. Remind your students before leaving for break to enter all hours worked in myCAP so they can be paid in a timely manner.
- You do NOT need to rehire students for spring semester 2022 if they are currently working for you in the fall semester. Their positions will carry over. If you have students who are no longer working, send Renee Bergman your list of terminations with their last work date to rbergman@capital.edu.
- If you have new student workers starting in January, submit new hire requests at any time.
- To advertise spring 2022 jobs on the student job site, check the "Shown" box in the job description on the admin hire site.
- The first student pay period of spring semester is Dec. 27, 2021, through Jan. 9, 2022.

PRINT YOUR 2022 OPEN ENROLLMENT ELECTIONS
Now that the 2022 Benefits Open Enrollment period has closed, HR highly recommends employees print a copy of their election information using PlanSource. Simply log back into PlanSource using the originally provided login information. Click on the button labeled “View Confirmation.” From there you will see the option to download, email or print your elections.

AWARDS ROLL IN FOR FALL SPORTS |
In the wake of the 2021 fall seasons, several Capital student-athletes earned postseason recognition on a conference and regional level. In total, 14 student-athletes earned All-OAC honors (three men’s soccer, three football, eight women’s soccer).
On the regional level, Mitch Hughes (men’s soccer) and Kameron Lee (football) were named CoSIDA Academic All-District for their combined efforts on the field and in the classroom. Both of these individuals were advanced to the Academic All-America ballot, with those teams being released during the first part of December. Avery Hart and Olivia Rotolo earned spots on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region teams in women’s soccer.

EMMA BURNS TABBED OAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
On Monday afternoon, Emma Burns was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her efforts to lead Capital University women's basketball during the season's opening week. The award is the second of its kind for Emma, who also claimed the recognition in December 2019.

With the 2021 fall campaigns behind us, we are rolling out season reviews for each program, looking back on all the best moments from the 2021 seasons. So far, the volleyball and men’s soccer reviews have been released, and the other sports will be released on the ensuing Tuesdays and Thursdays. CAPITAL ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME IS NOW DIGITAL!
During the 2021 summer, Capital Athletics began the transition of the Athletics Hall of Fame to a completely digital platform which is now housed in The Capital Center lobby. Hall of Fame members, alumni, and current members of the CapFam Community can now visit and interact with the touch screen to navigate through the history of Capital Athletics. Can’t make it to The Capital Center? Well, now you can view it at the convenience of your computer or phone!
