COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERSHIP OF SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY CELEBRATES 60 YEARS OF IMPACT AT DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY GALA

An evening of reflection, recognition, and renewed commitment to community action

San Bernardino, Calif. (October 31, 2025) — Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County (CAPSBC) celebrated six decades of service and impact at its 60th Anniversary Gala: A Diamond Celebration, held on October 24, 2025, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Ontario, California. The milestone event brought together community leaders, partners, and supporters for an elegant evening recognizing the organization’s enduring mission to fight poverty and empower lives throughout San Bernardino County.

Guests enjoyed dinner, live entertainment, a silent auction, and a special awards ceremony honoring outstanding individuals and organizations who exemplify CAPSBC’s mission of helping people and changing lives.  Elected officials were in attendance to show their support of CAPSBC. Supervisor Curt Hagman provided welcoming remarks and Congressman Pete Aguilar was one of the honorees and provided powerful remarks about the longevity of the organization and its impact in San Bernardino County.

The highlight of the celebration was the presentation of the Community Action Legacy Awards, which honored this year’s distinguished recipients:

  • Spirit of Hope Achievement Award: The Ozuna Family
  • Dr. Margaret Hill Helping People Changing Lives Award: Dr. Terrance Stone
  • Legislative Advocate Award: Congressman Pete Aguilar
  • Community Partner Award: San Bernardino Community College District
  • Venny H. Newman Humanitarian Award: Dr. Amanda Vann-Orellana

“These honorees represent the very best of our community,” said Patricia Nickols-Butler, CAPSBC CEO. “For sixty years, CAPSBC has been a beacon of hope and opportunity. The dedication of our board of directors, staff, volunteers, and partners continues to drive our mission forward, helping individuals and families achieve stability and self-reliance. As we look to the future, we remain committed to innovation, compassion, and a lasting impact.”

CAPSBC Board Chair Thomas Rice shared, “This milestone marks not only our organization’s longevity but also the resilience and unity of the communities we serve. The work of CAPSBC is a testament to what can be achieved when people come together with purpose, empathy, and a shared vision for a better tomorrow.”

Founded in 1965, CAPSBC has evolved from its beginnings as the Dependency Prevention Commission to become San Bernardino County’s designated Community Action Agency and a leading nonprofit in the region. Through programs like the Food Bank, Family Development, and Energy, Education & Environmental Services, CAPSBC continues to provide critical resources and empower families to build brighter futures.

As the organization celebrates its 60th year, it reaffirms its promise to strengthen communities, reduce poverty, and inspire hope across the Inland Empire.
