January is National Mentoring Month and it’s the time of year where engagement from community members interested in becoming mentors is the highest. Interested adults are encouraged to turn their concern for young people into direct action by becoming mentors. “Caring, consistent adult mentors can mean the difference between success and struggle for children and young adults. They need to know there are adults who are going to stay with them throughout their journey in the foster care system and help them cope with what is happening.” (Emily Nader, CASA Coordinator in Gila County, Az.) A MESSAGE FROM THE JUDGE: The Mentoring Effect
The CASA Foundation had a memorable year in 2019 which would not have been possible without amazing community partners, donors, committed CASA volunteers, and countless acts of support. Thanks to our many sponsors, the Foundation was able to fulfill its two-fold mission to promote and support the efforts of the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Program of Clark County and to address the unmet needs of over 3,000 abused and neglected children in foster care in Clark County.
Congratulations to  Kappa Alpha Theta on their 150th anniversary. Kappa Alpha Theta has been a partner with National CASA/GAL Association for Children for 30 years. Here in Clark County, the ladies of Kappa Alpha Theta is engaged with our local CASA program, and helps to promote CASA’s mission during their Annual Cabi Fashion Show. Additionally, they support the CASA program during its Annual Volunteer Retreat & Recognition Awards Ceremony.
