CASAs Help Foster Children Start the School Year off Right
Later this month, many children will head back to school. Starting a new grade or transitioning to a new school can be exciting and a bit scary.

For children in foster care who often change schools multiple times a year, the stress of always being in a new situation is profoundly challenging. Having a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer by their side can make all the difference in the world.
Tashima Dukes: A tireless advocate for children in foster care
Tashima Dukes was once a foster child that bounced around from one home to the next before aging out of the foster care system. Dukes went on to graduate with three master's degrees and holds a certification in sexual abuse counseling and grief counseling. She is also the author of the book, Truth Be Told: A Foster Child's Recollection which was released in January of this year.
