Women's Equality Day
August 26, 2020 was Women's Equality Day, let's celebrate the women who fought for equal voting rights in 1920, and all of the women currently leading organizations all over the country that work hard to provide women with equal opportunities in education and employment. Just as consistent advocacy is vital for the well-being of the youth we serve, reliable financial support from Thrive monthly donors' is essential to CASA/LA's ability to train, recruit, and support more CASA volunteers. As a nonprofit organization, our programs are fueled by contributions from the public. Monthly donations are crucial to buffering our organization from the ups and downs of life, ensuring that there is no lull in service to the youth we serve. Please consider joining the Thrive community of monthly donors and you'll receive a special monthly newsletter specifically designed to keep you informed of our ongoing efforts!

ANNOUNCING VIRTUAL CASA CONNECTIONS!
The work of a CASA volunteer can be isolating. Sometimes it's hard to remember that you are a part of a group of over 1000 volunteers all working to make a difference in the life of a youth living in foster care. There is a wealth of wisdom and experience in our ranks and Virtual CASA Connections are an avenue to help CASAs connect with each other and tap into that potential.
Connections will be organized according to the age of the youth to foster greater commonality among cases and areas of discussion.

Registering Your Youth to Vote
- If youth are 18 or older on Election Day, they are eligible to vote.
- In California, youth who are 16 or 17 can pre-register to vote, meaning they will automatically be registered when they turn 18.
CASAs can play an important part in ensuring your young person as a voice in upcoming elections. As a CASA, you can encourage your young person to register to vote and help them find non-partisan information about elections, candidates and issues. While you can encourage research and dialogue, you cannot tell your young person how to vote or which party to register with.
