October 18th, 2023, marked 30 years since a CASA program was first established in Lake County, Illinois. This year we celebrate our 30th Anniversary!
Over the past 30 years, our CASAs have been passionate, unwavering champions for the children of our county. At joyful adoptions, our CASAs were there. At the unlikeliest of graduations, our CASAs were there. At tearful reunifications with rehabilitated parents, our CASAs were there – and so much of their success is thanks to you – our community of supporters.
Starting from a humble beginning with a small Board of 4 volunteers, we have grown into a team of 17 Board Members overseeing a staff of 21, which supports 340 volunteers serving over 650 children per year. In 2023, that has included nearly every youth-in-care in Lake County, Illinois.
We are proud of the impact we have collectively made in our first 30 years. Imagine what we can do together over the next 30!

Kudos for Some Amazing CASA Volunteers!

To CASA David who is working on his third case involving a young sibling group, who cannot contain their excitement when David arrives for his monthly visits. Instinctively, they know his blue CASA bag will contain fun activities and books for their visits. David has diligently followed up on all their medical, psychological, and educational needs. In addition, David has ensured the foster parents have clothing, school supplies, and diapers.

To CASA Michael for supporting his teenager in his athletics. Michael has been attending the teen’s high school football games to cheer on his teen. The teen is on special teams for kickoff and punt returns, as well as other positions. Michael and his teen connect about the game afterwards and Michael sends him videos and photos from the games. This is proving to be a very good bonding experience for them both and his teen really knows he has someone on his team.

To CASA Susan for her continued dedication and commitment to her CASA families. Susan has two cases and advocates for a total of four children. In one of Susan’s cases with three children, the placement recently changed, and Susan jumped into action to assist with the school transfer process. Susan immediately contacted the new caregiver and coordinated the school paperwork and items the new caregiver needed for the children.
