National Adoption Month
By Judge Margaret Pickard

November is National Adoption Month!! The Administration for Children and Families, a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, sponsors National Adoption Month to increase awareness of issues faced by youth in foster care and highlight the need for adoptive families for teens in care. The program began as National Adoption Week in 1984, under President Ronald Reagan, and 11 years later, in 1995, President Bill Clinton proclaimed November to be National Adoption Month.
