SWEARING IN CEREMONY FOR NEW CASA VOLUNTEERS
Thank you to Judges Pickard, McConnell, Parlade, Ochoa, Charter, Gordon and Hearing Master White for attending the CASA Graduation on Friday, April 28. Congratulations to twenty-four new CASA volunteers! They are now advocating for the best interest of 45 children in foster care.
 
Thank you to everyone for getting the word out about the importance of the CASA program for children in foster care. Another CASA Training series is already in process and the next one is scheduled to begin in late June 2023.

In Memoriam: BONNIE MAYES
Champions for CASA and the staff of the Eighth Judicial District Court CASA Program would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Bonnie Mayes. Bonnie was a treasured Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer for 20 years. She advocated on behalf of 10 abused and neglected children on 4 separate cases and served as a Volunteer Court Monitor for the program for the past 13 years. Bonnie was a phenomenal CASA volunteer, who was recognized with CASA’s Outstanding Service Award in 2006 and CASA’s Excellence Award in 2012. Bonnie will be missed by all who came to know and love her. Rest in peace our friend.

Services for Bonnie Mayes will be Wednesday, June 14, 2023 6 p.m. at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113

Are you interested in becoming a CASA volunteer? Maybe you know someone who would be a terrific child advocate. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers are assigned by the Judge to advocate for the best interest of a child in foster care. Free informational meetings are scheduled (virtually) four times every month.
