Research study: Are you a health care provider (physician, resident, nurse, or pharmacist) in Canada interested in participating in a medical cannabis survey?
A research team at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN) is investigating health care provider perspectives on medical cannabis. We are inviting health care providers in Canada to complete a 10-minute online survey. Eligible participants must be over 18 years old, comfortable completing an online survey in English, and be a physician, resident, nurse, or pharmacist in Canada. All participants will provide consent before participating in the study. Participants will respond to questions about education and training in cannabinoid-based medicine; knowledge and attitudes toward medical cannabis; experiences prescribing cannabis, including barriers and facilitators; cannabis legalization impacts; and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on patient needs and clinical practice. Your valuable input will help researchers understand how cannabis legalization has affected clinical training and practice, and what is still needed to optimize medical cannabis patient support and care. Study approved by the Research Ethics Board at CAMH (REB #095/2021). To learn more, access the electronic consent form and complete the survey, please visit: https://edc.camhx.ca/redcap/surveys/?s=KATLL478TNJYTPRR

Supporting individuals with dementia and those closest to them can be challenging, especially when discussing their safety with driving. The Driving and Dementia Roadmap is a no-cost, online resource that aims to equip healthcare providers with the knowledge and tools to help guide patients surrounding the decision to stop driving and to maintain their quality of life. The DDR also contains unique portals of information directed to older adults with dementia and their family caregivers that includes a decision guide, worksheets, videos and other material.
“At some point of disease progression, individuals living with dementia need to consider whether or not it is safe for them to continue driving. However, not being able to drive can result in a loss of independence for many older adults, making the decision to stop driving a difficult one. With the Alzheimer Society of Canada predicting that nearly one million Canadians will be living with dementia by the year 2030, more individuals and their families will soon be facing this challenge and need support,” says Dr. Howard Chertkow, Scientific Director of the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging (CCNA) and Director of the Kimel Family Centre for Brain Health and Wellness at Baycrest.
Developed by researchers from Baycrest, Sunnybrook Health Services, the University of Toronto and CCNA, the DDR is a first one-of-its-kind resource. The Roadmap is available at drivinganddementia.ca and includes resources from every province and territory.
