Celebrating Black History Month 2026

In February we honour and celebrate the remarkable contributions of Black nurse educators who have profoundly shaped nursing and health care in Canada. Throughout history, these dedicated professionals have not only provided essential education and care but also served as advocates for equity and justice in their communities.

Together, let’s celebrate the strength and resilience of Black nurse educators who continue to inspire change and foster inclusivity in health care.

CASN Nurse Practitioner Education Framework – Validation Survey

Seeking input from educators, leaders, and partners of nurse practitioner education programs in Canada!

Make your voice count by participating in the NP Education Framework validation survey today!

In 2012, CASN developed the Nurse Practitioner Education in Canada: National Framework of Guiding Principles and Essential Components. With recent changes to the entry-to-practice competencies by CCRNR, CASN has convened an Advisory Committee and Working Group to update this resource. As part of our collaborative process, CASN invites you to provide feedback on the changes to the Nurse Practitioner Education in Canada National Framework through our validation survey.

The validation survey will be open February 2 to 16, 2026.

If you have any questions or would like additional information about the project, please contact Andrea Harvey (aharvey@casn.ca).

Fostering Intellectual and Developmental Disability Inclusive Pre-licensure Nursing Education

People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) experience inequities in health care access and health outcomes. The 2022 WHO Global Report for Health Equity for Persons with Disabilities called for nursing curriculum to integrate disability content to address these inequities. Student nurses often receive inadequate, if any, education about people with IDD, and nursing faculty may struggle to incorporate content about people with IDD.
