FREE workshop Series on Implementing the TRC Calls to Action in Nursing Education
The Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) Indigenous Research Chairs in Nursing are co-designing and co-delivering a five-part workshop series to support anti-racist and decolonial practices in nursing education as a collective response to implementing Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action. Schools of nursing are called on to educate students on Indigenous health issues, the legacy of residential schools, and be inclusive of Indigenous teachings and practices.
This free workshop series provides a starting point for individual nurse educators to encourage critical reflexive thinking and inspire action by participants towards reconciliation in nursing education.

You are invited to explore Dementia in New Light: A Digital Learning Experience, a free, interactive educational tool about stigma associated with dementia and how this can be challenged to support people to live well with dementia.
This was developed by a team of researchers from the KITE Research Institute, Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – UHN, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, York University, University of Toronto Scarborough, and Brock University that produced the research-based production Cracked: new light on dementia and recently won the CIHR Institute of Aging Betty Havens Prize for Knowledge Mobilization in Aging. It was also co-developed with people living with dementia, their families, health care practitioners, and educators.
Dementia in New Light envelops learners with a cinematic display of audio and visuals while connecting emotionally to the ideas shared. It covers 5 main topics (relationships, stigma, identity, current culture of dementia care, possibilities) and 27 sub-topics (e.g., loss, stereotypes, absurdities in dementia care practice, culture change). Using a wide breadth of multi-media resources, many of which draw upon the arts (e.g., theatre, film, music, poetry, animation), it creates an innovative and interactive way to engage learners.

Researchers from the University of Western Ontario are asking nursing students to complete a brief online survey about perceptions of working in different Ontario healthcare sectors. They are trying to understand what creates a desirable professional work environment in different Ontario healthcare sectors. They also aim to discover what could/would make long-term care and home and community care settings a preferred place for you to work.
The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. Simply click on the link here to take the anonymous survey: https://uwo.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_a4wymyvntry69bo
The first page of the survey provides information about confidentiality, anonymous submission and the conditions to withdraw from the research.
We value your expertise and appreciate you for taking the time to contribute to this research.
