Happy New Year from CASN!

As we begin 2022, I wanted to take this as an opportunity to extend my heartfelt greetings for the season and my appreciation to the many dedicated nursing faculty and administrators across Canada who contribute their valuable time and significant expertise to CASN initiatives. I am confident that the nursing education community will continue to foster high quality nursing education in the interest of healthier Canadians, despite the significant challenges ahead - which we will work together to overcome. May you have a spectacular New Year!

- Cynthia Baker, RN, PhD, CASN Executive Director

Announcement:
Integration of Indigenous Nursing Student and Faculty Survey Questions into CASN’s 2020-2021 National Student and Faculty Survey

Each year, CASN invites schools of nursing to participate in its National Student and Faculty Survey in order to collect and publish data on the total numbers of nursing faculty and students across Canada. This year, CASN, in partnership with the Canadian Indigenous Nurses Association, has added questions to collect data on the number of Indigenous students, graduates, and faculty members. There will also be a new section related to the recruitment and retention of Indigenous nursing faculty and students.

CASN values your continued support of this important survey, and we look forward to receiving your responses.

Canadian Nurses Foundation Scholarship Update

The Canadian Nurses Foundation scholarship applications will be opening January 2022. After careful evaluation, CNF has changed scholarship application dates. Applications will now run January to March, and awards will still be distributed in September and December of each year. This will allow our scholarship cycle to be open, reviewed and awarded within one calendar year. These changes are to create a more inclusive and accessible scholarship program for all nursing students across Canada. As nursing program timelines continue to change, CNF will continue to evaluate our eligibility to ensure we are providing an accessible awards program to all students.

Please review new award eligibility and timelines on the Canadian Nurses Foundation website at: www.cnf-fiic.ca

CNF’s scholarship applications are reviewed by our talented and accredited Merit Review Panel. These volunteer nurses review, evaluate, and participate in awarding over 80 scholarships each year. If you are a Masters or PhD level nurse and would like to participate in the important work of the Canadian Nurses Foundation Merit Review Panel, please contact Rachel Groskopf at rgroskopf@cnf-fiic.ca for more information.
