CASN Mental Health Interest Group Webinar

The CASN Mental Health Interest Group would like to invite you to join an upcoming webinar, presented by the BSN Peer Mentorship Program, titled "Experiences of a BSN Peer Mentorship Program in enhancing students' mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic: A panel discussion. “It will be held on May 12 at 2 PM EDT.

Student Representatives of the Douglas College BSN Peer Mentorship Program will discuss their experiences and the positive mental health impacts of a student-led support group for fellow nursing students.

Le Groupe d’intérêt de l’ACESI sur la santé mentale vous invite à vous joindre au webinaire intitulé ‘Les expériences que les étudiantes retirent du programme de mentorat BSN en matière d’amélioration de la santé mentale pendant la pandémie de la COVID-19 : groupe de discussion’, présenté par le programme de mentorat BSN le 12 mai à 14 h, HAE.
 
Les étudiantes du programme de mentorat BSN de Douglas College discuteront des expériences du groupe de soutien dirigé par des étudiantes et des effets positifs sur la santé mentale de leurs pairs en sciences infirmières.

Announcing the nomination period for the 2021 Annual Pat Griffin Scholar Award

The CASN Pat Griffin Nursing Education Research Scholar position awards a one-time $10,000 grant to the named Scholar, who will present a lecture at CASN Council in the year of selection. 

The nomination period is now open, and CASN is seeking individuals with a strong program of nursing education research. If you have any colleagues who meet these criteria, CASN invites you to forward their name for consideration to be the Pat Griffin Scholar for 2021. Nomination forms are available from CASN’s website. The deadline for nominations is June 4, 2021.

The Role of the Nurse Educator in Canada

Each chapter includes learning outcomes and helpful graphics and tables. The theoretical and practice-focused content recognizes the specialized practice of nursing education knowledge and expertise. The text supports the achievement of nurse educator competencies and fosters excellence in this role in Canada.

RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS NEEDED

Are you an educator in nursing or health programs?

We are seeking allied health faculty to participate in a study examining the impact of transitioning their teaching to online/remote delivery following the emergence of Covid-19 in Canada. As a participant in this study, you would be asked to complete an online questionnaire. Completion of the questionnaire should take approximately 10-15 minutes. If you choose, you may also be interviewed about your experiences. The interview would take between 45 and 60 min. Please follow this link to participate in the survey

For many, this season is about celebrating the close of the final semester and preparation of senior students for their transition to professional practice. We hope you will remember to refer your students to our expanding online resources. These include licensing exam sessions, chat support, engaging podcasts and much more! We are constantly developing content and strategies for the benefit of our membership, and are on the cusp of announcing more exciting resources with you soon!
 
Additionally, we are pleased to announce that our summer content series of ‘Relocating for Occupation or Education’ will include an educator-focused segment on international nursing practicums. You can expect notes from the field and thoughtful discussion of the future of such travel from a seasoned and engaging educator! Other content will include exploring student relocation for school, practicums and work and will take the form of expert panels, blogs, and more.

Comprehensive Systematic Review Training Workshops by the Queen’s Collaboration for Health Care Quality (Queen’s University)

These 5-days workshops are designed to prepare health sciences researchers, clinicians, librarians, graduate students and other individuals involved in quality and practice portfolios to develop, conduct, and report systematic reviews of evidence. The two workshops will be offered online, in June.
