September 28, 2021 – CASN issued a statement addressing the current state of health human resources in Canada, specifically in response to the current nurse shortages reported across the nation.

This position provides support for CASN’s accreditation programs. Accreditation includes programs for nurse practitioner, baccalaureate and practical nurse entry to practice, and bridging programs for internationally educated nurses.

On September 30th, the CASN National Office honoured the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, created in response to Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. We reflected on the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada and the tragic legacy of residential schools, and we honoured the survivors, families, and communities impacted by the residential school system. As the national voice for nursing education, CASN will continue to provide support for reconciliation by offering direction to schools of nursing and resources such as our Framework of Strategies for Nursing Education to Respond to the Calls to Action of Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. 

Le 30 septembre, le Secrétariat national de l’ACESI a célébré la première Journée nationale de la vérité et de la réconciliation, journée créée en lien avec l’un des 94 appels à l’action de la Commission de vérité et réconciliation du Canada. Nous avons réfléchi à l’histoire des peuples autochtones du Canada et à l’héritage tragique des pensionnats, et nous avons rendu hommage aux survivants, aux familles et aux communautés touchés par ce système. En tant que porte-parole national de la formation en sciences infirmières, l’ACESI continuera de soutenir la réconciliation en offrant une orientation aux écoles de sciences infirmières et des ressources telles que notre Cadre stratégique en matière de formation infirmière, en réponse aux appels à l’action de la Commission de vérité et réconciliation du Canada.

The Canadian Children, Youth and Communities (CCYC) Health In | Equity Conference is an interdisciplinary conference designed to bring together pediatric health and allied health care professionals to address health care inequities from birth to adolescence using a family-centred approach.
