Greetings CASP,


Happy February! We hope that your year has been off to a great start. Whether you’re buried in assignments or just trying to stay on top of everything, remember to take it one day at a time. Keep your goals in view, but pace yourself—progress is progress, no matter how small. This month, focus on what you can control, and don’t forget that it’s okay to take breaks and recharge along the way. We’re here for you! To make things easier, we’ve pulled together a bunch of events and opportunities. You got it!


We are open! Come by and say hello to our new office located on the 3rd floor of Center Hall (through Door E & F). We have free printing, a dry kitchen, and a study space open Mon - Fri from 9 am - 5 pm.

Reaching the Brain: Breaking New Ground in Drug Delivery for CNS Disorders will be presented by Christine Hrycyna, Dean of the School of Physical Sciences and the Chancellor’s Associates Chair in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Registration is free for students to join if you're interested in learning about their approach of possible treatment of numerous brain diseases and disorders with molecules that are based on therapeutic drug treatment.

With today’s technology, staying in touch with people that you care about has never been easier; however, technology can also be used in ‘creepy’ ways, like to track or control someone. In this interactive workshop, participants identify their digital boundaries, learn about how consent applies to online interactions, differentiate ‘cute’ and ‘creepy’ online behaviors, and familiarize themselves with warning signs and resources available for those experiencing stalking/cyberstalking. This workshop is being delivered in recognition of National Stalking Awareness Month (NSAM).

Are you questioning your gender? Do you need a space to discuss your gender identity with others who may be going through the same thing? This group allows students to explore their thoughts and feelings related to their gender identity.

Queer Community Connections

Tuesdays | 1-2 PM | Cross Cultural Center


The Queer Community Connections group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender identities in a confidential setting. This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, asexual, intersex, and people questioning their sexual or gender identity.


Topics are determined by group participants and can include queer joy, life stressors, sociopolitical climate, family/cultural issues, etc. This CAPS group is cofacilitated with our STRIDE coordinators.


Queer Community Connections for Graduate and Professional Students

Wednesdays | 4-5:15 PM | Cross Cultural Center


This in-person connections space exists to create space for community development and to foster a sense of belonging. The content is guided by community members and often focuses on Queer issues and/or general graduate and professional student issues.


Examples include personal and professional relationships, Queer topics in academia and media, intersectionality, minority stress and coping with Imposter Syndrome. Conversations will be facilitated by Dr David Kersey.

Care at SARC: Yoga as Healing Support Group

Yoga as Healing Support Group Registration Open


⏰ Time:  Winter and Spring Weeks 2-9, Thursdays at 4:30pm


This eight-week yoga series for student survivors of sexual trauma explores reconnection to the mind and body. This program provides a means for participants to connect to their bodies and allows them to explore the benefits of mindfulness, guided practice and meditation. No prior yoga experience is necessary to participate and all supplies are provided.

Summer2025 Research Internship Program

The Haumana 'O Pasifika Program is a paid 10-week summer internship program for undergraduate students (or recent graduates) interested in biomedical careers related to improving health in Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders (NHPI). Our program, named the Haumana 'O Pasifika Program by our inaugural class of Haumana (Hawaiian for "student") Scholars in 2023, aims to help outstanding undergraduates achieve their goals of becoming the next generation of scientists, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and health care professionals serving this community by providing research experience, clinical exposure, career development, and community outreach. Students for Economic Justice (SEJ) is a full-time six week, paid summer internship program dedicated to train undergraduate students to become leaders and organizers in the San Diego region.
