Greetings,
For some of our student, the countdown to the end of Spring 2021 has multiple meanings. To some, this will mark the end of their first year at UC San Diego and time to enjoy their much-deserved summer break. To other, it marks the end of their undergraduate career, and the start of a new chapter in their lives.
Whether we get to see our students next fall for the new academic year, or later in life as an alum of the CASP program, know that our team is so honored to have been a part of your Triton journey of success. You are all strong, capable, and successful individuals! We know this is not a "goodbye," but a "see you later!" We wish you the best on all your future endeavors and we can't wait to have you back. COMMENCEMENT INFORMATION

In the spirit of working together for change, we are honored to welcome UC San Diego alumna, principal at Black Futures Lab and co-founder of the Black Lives Matter Global Network, Alicia Garza '02, who will deliver the keynote address during our commencement ceremonies June 12-13, 2021.
Graduates will have the opportunity to attend ceremonies in person on RIMAC Field or Triton Track, with no more than two guests. All participants should be fully vaccinated or have had a negative COVID-19 test within 24 to 72 hours prior to the ceremony. Participants will be required to complete a symptom screening upon entry. All health and safety measures will be observed, based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state and county guidelines for travel and gatherings, including continuous masking. For graduates not able to participate in person, commencement ceremonies will be offered online via livestream for all graduates, families and friends.
Separate ceremonies will be held for each undergraduate college as well as the Graduate Division, Rady School of Management and the School of Global Policy and Strategy. Events will reflect the culture of each college and division and will feature an address from the Chancellor, a keynote talk by Garza, and a student speaker. Each registered graduate will be individually recognized whether joining remotely or in person, and the university will officially confer degrees upon all graduates.

| DISCOVER UCHICAGO |
The University of Chicago is now accepting applications for our Discover UChicago program, our annual diversity visit weekend scheduled for October 17-19, 2021 . This program is intended for individuals from diverse backgrounds who are planning to apply to graduate school in the fall of 2021 with the intention of matriculating in the fall of 2022. This exciting event combines workshops on applying to graduate school, individual meetings with faculty and UChicago students, and opportunities to explore our community and the city of Chicago. Students interested in doctoral programs, as well as master's programs in the majority of our schools and divisions, are encouraged to apply online by August 16, 2021 at 11:59 PM. Students from underrepresented backgrounds, first generation students, women in STEM fields, and undocumented students are especially encouraged to apply. A full list of participating programs may be found on our DU program website. For application instructions, students should visit our application page. XICANX/LATINX VIRTUAL GRADUATION

The Raza Resource Centro is proud to announce the fifth annual Xicanx/Latinx Graduation ceremony. The event is intended to highlight the achievement of higher education completion in all degree fields for the latinx student community.
Self-identified latinx students graduating with a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Sciences, Master of Arts, Master of Sciences, Medicine Doctorate, and PhD are eligible to participate.

RAINBOW GRADUATION

UC San Diego will honor our 2021 graduates on Friday, June 4th, 2021 at 5 P.M.
Due to the pandemic and the evolving ability for our campus and community to gather safely, we plan to have a virtual event, knowing that many in our community, and those to whom we are closely connected, may be vulnerable and unable to gather safely.

| UC SAN DIEGO - RETURN TO LEARN |
The Return to Learn Program is a voluntary student program that screens for active SARS-CoV-2 virus, the virus that causes COVID-19 disease. If you choose to participate, you will be helping potentially reduce the risks of COVID-19 outbreaks and making our UC San Diego community a healthier place.
In this initial phase, in May 2020, SARS-CoV-2 testing was be made available to resident undergraduate and graduate students currently residing on campus. Participation is voluntary, but all eligible students are encouraged to participate, and there will be no cost to the students who choose to participate.
The Return to Learn Program is for asymptomatic student volunteers only. If you are having COVID-19 symptoms (shortness of breath, cough, fever, chills, loss of smell or taste), please call Student Health Services at 858-534-3300. At this time UC San Diego is not able to accommodate students who do not reside in on-campus housing, nor families of students who may also live on campus. They hope to expand testing in the future so that we can accommodate many more groups.

The sudden shift to a remote learning environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic has forced UC San Diego students to adapt to new ways of learning and connecting away from the traditional campus setting.
Triton Tools & Tidbits is a podcast that is focused on discussing topics that will engage and enrich student life and education. Brought to you by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
- How can we as a campus community support each other, and our students, to succeed in this unique environment?
- What tools do students need to succeed in an era of physical distancing?
- How can students maintain connectivity to their networks in a remote environment, sustaining a sense of community while in a non-traditional campus environment?
Every Thursday, Triton Tools and Tidbits seeks to answer these questions while highlighting resources available to students across Student Affairs units and the UC San Diego campus community.

MINDFULNESS AND COMPASSION SESSIONS
|
UC San Diegos Center for Mindfulness and the T. Denny Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion have joined forces with the Compassion Institute to provide daily streams and recordings of mindfulness and compassion sessions, offering resources and online support.
|

UC San Diego Health launched a COVID-19 nurse line (800-926-8273) that connects patients to nurses dedicated to screening people with respiratory symptoms associated with the new coronavirus.

COVID-19 RESOURCES FOR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS AND FAMILIES
|
"My Undocumented Life," a web page with up-to-date information & resources for undocumented immigrants, have compiled a list of resources and news that can help undocumented and mixed-status families during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
They will update this page frequently so be sure to bookmark it and share it with your networks!

| UCSD RECREATION PRESENTS: THE PLAYGROUND |
 The Playground is a space where students and the UC San Diego community can get active, creative, meditative and stay fit through online classes, informative articles and virtual Rec programming.
Recreation Online will bring you to the vast library of prerecorded content from Rec trainers and instructors that can be accessed anytime. Recreation Live classes will be hosted via Zoom or Facebook/Instagram Live @UCSDrec. A schedule will be updated weekly which will show the date, time and platform where they can be accessed. Classes will be a mix of fitness, DIY and fine arts from Rec instructors like guitar and Capoeira.

STUDENTS FILING TAXES

The Chancellor's Associates Scholars Program (CASP) in partnership with Ley Ebrada, founder of a woman-owned and led boutique accounting firm, Ebrada Financial Group has provided some guidance on whether students should file taxes or not and how to file taxes if applicable.

"HOW TO COLLEGE" PODCAST
|
"How To College" is a podcast featuring resources and support for first generation high school, college students, and college graduates as well as their parents.
With more than 40 episodes, the podcast also features the experiences of undocumented students (with or without DACA). This includes conversations about navigating college while undocumented and the experience of adjusting one's immigration status.

REMOTE PARENTS SUPPORT GROUP

Please join the Women's Center for a supportive discussion and an opportunity to connect with other UCSD remote working parents. Working from home and parenting during the Coronavirus pandemic is extremely unfamiliar territory for us all, not to mention the difficulty balancing roles amid a variety of stressors. Parenting is never easy, but this is unprecedented. You are not alone!
This support group is in collaboration with the Women's Center and facilitated by Izabel Caetano Francy, LCSW, a Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) licensed clinician, who is also a full-time remote working parent.
Open to all Faculty and Staff parents of any age, partnered or single.

| INTERLINK WITH AIP |
As the Fall quarter approaches, the Academic Internship Program will continue to support students seeking remote internship and experiential learning opportunities.
- AIP Counselors and Peer Advisors are available for remote 1:1 advising
- AIP works with sites to identify and promote remote internships. Students can find some of these in the InternLink database, and can also meet with AIP to discuss strategies for connecting with remote opportunities.
- Eligible students of any major can enroll in AIP 97/197 to earn credit for remote internships this Fall, whether they find them through AIP or using other resources.
- Guidance regarding credit for in-person internships is ever-evolving, but students can connect with AIP to discuss options.
Students can always reach AIP via the VAC, or visit the AIP Advising page of our website for details on remote advising.
Qualcomm Institute Learning Academy:
Our campus partner, the Qualcomm Institute, is offering an exciting two-quarter program for students to learn about and engage in team-based, interdisciplinary research focused on addressing complex challenges. Students of any major can apply for the QI Learning Academy, and will earn credit through AIP. If AIP can help to support you in thinking about experiential learning opportunities this year, please do not hesitate to contact any of the AIP team, or reach out to at aipinfo@ucsd.edu.

STUDY ABROAD AND SUMMER 2021 VIRTUAL GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES

UC San Diego Global Seminars invites you to apply for one of their summer 2021 virtual faculty-led study abroad programs. At a time when most in-person study abroad options have been canceled due to the COVID-19 epidemic, virtual Global Seminars offer the opportunity to receive eight quarter units of UC San Diego credit in a five-week summer session, along with high quality online interaction with a UCSD faculty member and global experts and sites for a much lower price than a traditional program. They are offering the following six virtual programs:
- Enlightenment, Revolution, and Romanticism in Edinburgh
- Geology and Volcanology in Hawaii
- Indigenous Health in Bolivia
- Sea Turtles and Tropical Ecology in Costa Rica
- Journalism in Central Europe
- Revelle in Rome
Any current or former student, who is at least 18 years old and in good academic and disciplinary standing, is eligible to apply through their TritonsAbroad online application system. They are currently accepting applications on a rolling basis through April 1. NORTHGATE MARKET DIA DE LOS MUERTOS ART CONTEST

In search of the next Frida Kahlo or Jose Guadalupe Posada, Northgate González Market today calls for high school and college students to enter its Día de los Muertos-themed Art Contest.
This year's theme is "KEEPING TRADITIONS ALIVE \ TRADICIONES QUE VIVEN." The idea behind this year's theme, "Keeping Traditions Alive" emphasizes the importance of cultural and family traditions. Día de los Muertos lies deep within Mexico's rich heritage and reminds people to honor and remember those loved ones who have passed.
"Over the past year, families have been separated and, in some cases, isolated due to the pandemic. This particular time has reminded us how to cherish our loved ones now and forever as tomorrow is never promised," said Northgate Market Co-President Don Miguel González. "We want to provide students with the opportunity to honor and keep these family traditions alive. In your piece of art, show us what it means to honor loved ones through a Day of the Dead theme," González added.
The Northgate Market High School & College Art Contest is open to high school students, grades 9 through 12, and undergraduate college students going to a community or four-year college in one of the following counties: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, and San Diego.
Winners of the art contest will receive:
The First Place Winner student will receive a $1,500 scholarship to help offset academic expenses, a gift certificate of $300 for art supplies, and $200 gift card from Northgate Market to celebrate your win. In addition, the winning piece will be featured on Northgate Market bags and other merchandise, including potentially private label items.
The Second Place Winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship to help offset academic expenses. and a gift certificate of $250 for art supplies, and a $100 gift card from Northgate Market.
The Third Place Winner will receive a $750 scholarship, and a $100 gift card from Northgate Market.
Honorable Mentions will receive a Certificate of Recognition and a $50 gift card from Northgate Market.

Visit the Writing Hub to meet with a supportive, well-trained peer writing mentor who will help you gain perspective on what works and what can be improved in your writing.
