Muir College Radical Reads | |
This year we plan to bring back radical reads and select books that tell the story of historically marginalized communities. For this October we plan to read Daytripper. The story is written by a Brazilian Novelist The reader is first introduced to Brás at age 32, as he grapples with trying to live up to the shadow of his father, an acclaimed writer named Benedito de Oliva Domingos. This book was selected to give students an opportunity for reflection on life. We not only want to have an opportunity to discuss the book and how it relates to today. Also we wanted to take the opportunity for students to journal as they reflect on their own lives. The questions and writing prompts will be tied to Latine specific questions as it does have ties to South America. We hope to host one discussion space in Fall but distribute and give direction on journaling prior to 10/22.
