It is said that Cats can see in the dark, but this CAT can't

To be honest, we don’t know if you have completed the CAT or not because each person’s answers are anonymous. BUT, if you haven’t already, please shed some light on your experiences at St. Paul’s. It will only take 25 minutes. For your convenience, the link to your CAT is provided again below.

The Episcopal Diocese of Rochester is offering a Strengthening the Body of Christ workshop to help church members and clergy become more effective leaders of their congregations. We welcome the Rev. Jay Wittmeyer, Executive Director of the Lombard Mennonite Peace Center, to lead this event. This workshop uses the insights of family systems theory to reflect on the social dynamics and connections of the congregation. The workshop seeks to work through such concepts as toxicity and sabotage and address how leaders can respond to such challenges in mature and responsible ways that maintain unity through peace.

Strengthening the Body of Christ uses theory to help church members and clergy become more effective leaders of their congregations. This workshop is a call for leaders to grow themselves up into spiritual maturity and guide their congregations into the full measure of the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Who will benefit:

  • Clergy who are interested in learning how to manage change and transition post-pandemic.
  • Pastors looking to gain knowledge in creating a healthier relationship with their congregation.
  • Church lay leaders who want to learn the best practices for their church based on present research findings.
  • Anyone interested in learning how to manage self and become a positive representative for the church.

Parish Prayer List

We entrust into your unfailing care, Merciful God...

Those for whom our prayers have been requested: David Miller, Bob Michniewicz, Marcia Stevens, Claudius Scott, Jack Worboys, Linda, Mara Hazzard-Wallingford, Shelia Eiss, Bill & Diane Bailey, Lois, Donna Grear, Hans Thurston, Nathan, Noreen, Scott, Bertha Simpkins, Amelia Smith, Ella Richard-Dyson, and Bill Dewart.

Our nation and the world: the President, Congress, and Supreme Court; our Governor, Mayor, and the leaders of the communities from which we come; members of our military at home and abroad; for all those elected or appointed to positions of public trust, and for peace throughout our world.

The Church throughout the world, especially for Sean Rowe, the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church; Kara Wagner Sherer, Bishop of Rochester; for the clergy and staff of St. Paul's, and for our partners in ministry.

With thanksgiving, our health care professionals, first responders, essential workers, and farmworkers.

Those who have died, and all of those whom we love but see no longer.

Almighty and eternal God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth: Mercifully accept the prayers of your people, and strengthen us to do your will; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for St. Paul's

O God, our heavenly Father, make the door of St. Paul's Church wide enough to receive all who need love and fellowship and loving care, and narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and uncharitableness. Make its threshold smooth enough to be no stumbling block to children, but strong enough to turn back the tempter's power.

O heavenly Father, make the door of St. Paul's a gateway to your eternal kingdom; bless every member and worker; may all that we do and say be done and said to your honor and glory and the spreading of your kingdom. May we continue to be forever yours and daily increase through the Holy Spirit in love and service to others; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
