Federal Tax Reform Means More Business Taxes for California
|
California's corporate tax base may increase by up to 12% as a result of federal tax reform legislation,
according to a study recently released by the
State Tax Research Institute (STRI). This means that revenues from California's corporate income tax could increase by as much as $1.3 billion - without any action by state lawmakers to increase corporate tax rates or income definitions. See more

Auto Parts Distributors Must Know Vehicle in Operation Trends to Succeed
|
Auto parts distributors need to make sure that their parts inventory matches the vehicles in operation (VIO) trends and their part failure rate trends if they want their business to succeed.
That was one of the messages delivered by Peter Witkamp, CEO of consulting business Aftermarket Dynamics. "Through 2020, we will see a 9.2 increase in VIO in U.S, which is good news for our business," said Witkamp, who worked for Federal-Mogul for 36 years before leaving to start his own consultancy.
But not all automaker brands will enjoy a sales increase. He said that the sale of domestic cars in the U.S. will decrease 7.9 percent through 2015, while the sale of import cars will increase 4.3 percent. In 2020, VIO in the U.S. will be approximately 60 percent foreign and 40 percent domestic. See here for more details. Source: Search Autoparts |

Make Sure Your Sales Career is the Exception, Not the Rule
|
To be successful in the world of selling you need to be a contrarian. In every industry successful salespeople are the exception, not the rule. In the insurance field only about 20% of the agents who start are still agents ten years down the road. In real estate, the average Realtor sells three houses a year, and even though some may stay in the business because it's the family's second income, and the company allows them to, three houses a year is poverty-level income. In the corporate world, most salespeople don't make quota and in many cases, even those that do aren't making six figures. That's the bad news.
The good news is: the top people in sales make tons of money and most have really good lives as a result. The other piece of good news is that success or failure, with rare exception, is completely up to the individual. Sales truly is the highest paying hard work and the lowest paying easy work and the reality is: those that don't make it never make the commitment to put in the necessary work to be successful. All of that said, here are a few thoughts to entertain in order to be successful (here). Source: John Chapin
