Virtual Event: Diversity in Office, Equity in Campaigns
In May, our friends at Vote Mama Foundation released a report, Campaign Funds for Childcare: Breaking Barriers for Moms to Run for Office, presenting first-of-its-kind research on how working parents are using campaign funds for childcare to run strong campaigns across the country. They’re building on that momentum by hosting a roundtable discussion on September 23rd at 11:30am ET with Anne-Marie Slaughter, Rep. Sherae’a Moore, Candace Valenzuela, and Liuba Grechen Shirley. RSVP to the event here.
Reflections on 20th Anniversary of 9/11 with John Farmer
Last week, Eagleton Institute of Politics Director John Farmer gave a special virtual lecture at the Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences, in which he reflected on his experiences with the September 11th attacks, first as the New Jersey attorney general at the time of the attacks and later as senior counsel and team leader for the 9/11 Commission. The event, moderated by Ava Majlesi, associate director of EIP’s Miller Center for Community Protection and Resilience, also focused on Farmer’s work in counter terrorism and recent developments in the field, including the role of social media as an accelerant for extremism. Watch the full lecture here and read The 9/11 Commission Reporthere.
