A newsletter to keep you informed about all things women and politics from the Center for American Women and Politics, Rutgers University.
Our Thanks to You
In honor of Thanksgiving, we're giving you a special edition of CAWP News & Notes with items we thought you'd enjoy reading right now.

We're thankful for all the women who ran for office in 2017, and for those who are lining up to run in 2018. And of course, we're thankful for everyone who reads and shares CAWP News & Notes --  and for all who generously support CAWP so we can continue to bring you the latest information about all things women in politics.
One Year and Counting: Women Running in 2018
We've read the stories about more women turning out for campaign trainings in 2017, and we've seen the stunning election results in Virginia. Now, with one year until the 2018 elections, CAWP scholar Kelly Dittmar takes a closer look at the numbers of women candidates lining up for 2018 to see how the media narratives and anecdotal evidence match up with actual bids for office. She compares the early numbers for 2018 with the numbers at the same point in earlier election cycles. Read the details and see the numbers here
Elections 2017 and 2018: Our Analysis

In HuffPost, CAWP director Debbie Walsh admits that we underestimated the prospects for women to win in 2017 and says we've learned that, "While it's still a long shot to unseat an incumbent, we're telling women it can be worth a try to run as a challenger." Read her observations here.

We're grateful for your support in 2017.
Can you help us do even more in 2018?
