Lipman 2021 Chair Yamiche Alcindor
CAWP is thrilled to announce that PBS journalist Yamiche Alcindor will be our 2021 Wynona Lipman Chair in Women's Political Leadership. Her Lipman Chair lecture , Truth in Journalism: Reporting on Politics and Identity in America, will be held virtually on January 26th, 2022 at 12pm ET. Alcindor, the White House correspondent for PBS NewsHour, moderator of Washington Week, and an NBC and MSNBC political contributor, has become a go-to voice in analyzing the most critical issues of our time, for Democrats and Republicans alike. She has written extensively on the intersection of race and politics and has covered the impact of President Trump’s policies on the working class, immigration, and breaking news coming out of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. She has also reported on the presidential campaign of Senator Bernie Sanders and the legacy of President Obama, as well as how police killings affect communities and children.
The Lipman Chair is made possible through the generous ongoing support of the New Jersey Legislature, and it honors the legacy of the late state senator Wynona Lipman, the first African American woman in the New Jersey State Senate, while encouraging others to follow in the footsteps of this path-breaking African American woman leader. Learn more about the Lipman Chair and register to attend Yamiche Alcindor’s lecture here.

Smooth, Rosalyn Cooperman, Anna Sampaio, and Dianne Bystrom, as well as pieces from Carroll, Dittmar, and CAWP Senior Scholar Kira Sanbonmatsu.
