THE CENTRAL CONNECTION
July
"We are an organization of churches that is committed
to the mission of Christ to multiply disciple-making churches
through evangelism, leadership training, and connection with
other like-minded churches."
Lifestyle or Way of Life?

We have been so excited to see those who gather on Sunday mornings. We have deeply missed everyone, but especially those we have not been able to see. The process is agonizingly slow and for many reasons it might be a very long time before we get back to normal… if the Lord really wants us back to what we think is normal.

The ENGAGE forum has been suspended

MY
LIFE
LESSON
"With Father’s Day passing and my dad’s birthday approaching I began to remember some of the things my dad has said to me. (Dad entered his rest in May of 2007). One of the Biblical truths that dad shared with me was “learn to pray by praying Scripture!” I have taken that to heart and while reading through the Bible I have highlighted ALL the Scriptural prayers.  What I have discovered was that many of my prayers were not Biblical." AROUND THE REGION. . .
2020 Henry C. Spicer Scholarships
It is again the privilege of CB North Central to award the Henry C. Spicer Scholarship to several of our graduating high school seniors. All graduating high school seniors from our region's churches are eligible to make application for the one-time non-renewable scholarship. The scholarship aims to help with the costs of continuing education. Having made us a kingdom of priests, we rejoice that the Lord desires to place these young men and women as a faithful presence in different vocational fields.

This year's scholarship committee has selected four graduating students that excelled in many areas. Selection is made based on a number of items, 1) personal testimony and church recommendations, 2) academic performance, 3) servant leadership, both church and community related, 4) extra-curricular activities, 5) future pursuits, and 6) financial need. This year’s applicants were all outstanding, and reading through each student's testimony and future plans greatly encouraged the committee.

"There has been a shared experience of grief through this season of life as we live with the threat of an “invisible enemy,” as we lament decisions made by the highest court of our land, and as we continue to see every situation politicized. A lot of us have “unfollowed” people on social media and/or been “unfollowed” while trying to comfort people without being able to touch them.  The first half of 2020 has been painful in a way that we didn’t imagine and time will tell how it will be remembered.

PLAID PONDERINGS: Love Your Neighbor XXXXXXXXXXXXXX No. 11
On August 30 th, 2016, I was sitting in chapel as a student of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary listening to astronaut Jeff Williams give a live address to the student body from the International Space Station. By the end of his mission, Williams was on track to set the record for spending more time in space than any other American astronaut in history. Through camera’s and a video live stream we were able to hear Williams edify the student body with his experiences in Space. He said, “When I look out the window and I see this, all of the elements are what you would imagine you would see with a creative work by an infinite God. You see the design, you see the beauty, you see the purpose, you see all of those elements, you see order in all the details.”   Read More

It's Who You Know-
RETIRED CHAPLAIN RIVALS THE ENERGIZER BUNNY

Through a personal relationship with a pastor whose church is just outside the Royal Military College (Kingston), I was able to give my Combat Moral Injury and From Harm to Home lectures with Canadian soldiers, chaplains and volunteers. I was also pleased to enjoy the presence of the base “Principal” or head, base chaplain. Most of those present had either been deployed or were soon leaving for Afghanistan as our ally in NATO. This was a very timely event for these soldiers bringing about many questions and issues about soul wounds of war.
