CBHA Responds to Governor Newsom’s Proposed 2025-2026 Budget

On Friday, Governor Gavin Newsom introduced his proposed 2025-2026 State Budget. At the start of 2025, California is navigating a complex fiscal landscape with a projected revenue of $16.5 billion and ongoing economic challenges, including inflation and national policy uncertainties.

Despite necessary adjustments, the proposed budget reflects a strong commitment to safeguarding prior behavioral health investments, which are essential to building a healthier and more equitable system.

We remain steadfast in advocating for behavioral health providers and the communities they serve. Specifically, our longstanding advocacy to ensure our youth have access to school-based behavioral health resources has seen gains. CBHA CEO, Dr. Le Ondra Clark Harvey remarked, “We are heartened to see the inclusion of key provisions benefiting vulnerable youth in the proposed state budget. This inclusion represents a victory for the entire behavioral health community.”
