Counting the Omer
Today is the 32nd Day of the Omer

Starting with the second night of Passover, Jews all over the world began counting the Omer. The count lasts for fifty days, beginning at Passover and ending at Shavuot. Therefore, by counting the Omer, we can collect 50 cans of food (or $50 or 50 quarters, etc.) that can benefit our community.

This year, the CCAR (Reform Rabbis) and Rabbi Karen Kadar have put together a new app with a daily meditation and the daily count. It's available on Google Play, ITunes, and AmazonAnd as always, you can count the omer with Homer Simpson . While there's silliness, there's a lot of great information as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions Counting the Omer.

According to Jewish Federations of NA, there are 130,000 Holocaust survivors in the U.S. One fourth of them live at or below the poverty level.

The Federation is spearheading a nationwide fundraising drive with a goal of $45 million to assist these survivors in their declining years. The funds are needed to supplement allocations from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, which compensates survivors and funds social services to assist elderly needy victims of the Shoa.
