CBRL news October 2019
Welcome to CBRL’s October newsletter.

We've had a busy month with events taking place both in the Levant and in London - the image here is from the project launch and workshop of the Mapping Digital Heritage in Jordan (MaDiH) collaborative project that took place at CBRL Amman earlier this week. You can read more about the project in the news section below.

In East Jerusalem, just yesterday evening, the CBRL Kenyon Institute co-hosted, with the Educational Bookshop, the book launch "Hamas Contained: the Rise and Pacification of Palestinian Resistance" with author Dr Tareq Baconi in discussion with Dr José Vericat (Carter Center for Israel-Palestine).

Meanwhile, last week in London, in partnership with UCL's Institute of Advanced Studies, former CBRL trustee, Professor Rosemary Hollis discussed the role of national narratives in the Israeli-Palestian conflict as presented in her new book, "Surviving the Story" along w ith historian Dr Seth Anziska, author of "Preventing Palestine." A Podcast of this event is available now.

In other news, CBRL's call for applications to our 2020-2021 research awards is now open - more details below.

The British Academy are now also accepting applications for researchers to exhibit at their annual Summer Showcase that will take place next June. If you've received a CBRL grant (dating back to 2014) and would like to share your research findings in an innovative and engaging way with a large and diverse audience, please see here for more details on how to apply.

It's the end of another successful season for t he CBRL affiliated Aerial Archaeology in Jordan project led by Dr Robert Bewley ( EAMENA / University of Oxford) and last week the Jordan Times published an excellent article about the project and the development of aerial archaeology in the Middle East.

Finally, for those of you in or near London next week, Dr Micaela Sinibaldi, who leads the CBRL affiliated Islamic Baydha Project, will be giving a lecture, organised by the Palestine Exploration Fund at the British Museum - more details here.

We hope you enjoy reading our news this month.
