š” Meet Gunner ā A Blind Beauty with a Big Heart š¾
Gunner may not have his sight, but he sees the world through love. š
This sweet boy has been through a lot ā rescued from a neglect case and left waiting in a shelter without being chosen. Gunner is now thriving in a loving foster home in Idaho, where heās rediscovering the joys of companionship, gentle walks, and daily routines.
Despite his blindness, Gunner lives for car rides, exploring with courage and curiosity, and being near his person ā earning him the nickname āVelcro Chessieā from his foster. Heās a gentle soul with endless loyalty and an unshakable spirit.
𩺠Health & Care:
Gunner is blind, but he adapts beautifully with guidance and love. Heās part of our Pawlitive Care program, which means all eye-related vet expenses are covered by the rescue.
š Gunnerās Ideal Home:
- A calm environment with minimal stairs
- Preferably no other dogs, or possibly a mellow female dog
- Someone patient and loving who can be his guide and best friend
Weāre almost out of time in his current foster situation, and Gunner is so ready to settle into a forever home where he can feel safe, cherished, and truly at peace. š¶

| | Happy 10th Birthday Miss Abbey girl! | | Happy 4th Birthday to Ryker NW SW Alumni | | Happy 1st Birthday to the Colville Nine | | Finn š is a very active, happy boy who enjoys inventing games and constantly playing. He is too smart for his own good. Opening doors is his laterst skill, keeping us on our toes. He still gets car sick, but not as often. His relationship with the cats is still a process. He loves his sister Kadi and just gets a little rambunctious for her at times. We love the big lug and so happy he found us. | | |
Odin š loves his little human Michael. He follows him everywhere. He is obsessed with water and constantly jumps in the bath with Michael he is a very sweet boy and his family loves him.
His favorite things are Michael, swimming, playing on four wheelers , playing with his dog brother Zeus and hiking.
We just found out that Odin can find deer antlers! Heās found two so far this year!
Good boy!
| | Walker š is a sweet, loving boy who loves to take himself for walks! He loves our cat, his chessie cousin, and our grandkids. He can be stubborn, gets sick in the car, and can be rambunctious but he has stolen the hearts of the entire family. | | |
Princessš the Runt:
When Princess was rescued, she was the tiniest of the litterāBut what she lacked in size, she made up for in sheer willpower and attitude.
Despite her small size, Princess immediately set the tone: the German Shepherd she now calls ābrotherāāa hulking 120 pounds of fluff and confusionāwas no match for her antics.
Princess isnāt just spice, she's brains, too.
It only took her one try to figure out how to open the screen door.
One of her favorite places her familyās lake house. There, she has transformed to fearless adventurer. Sheās learned to paddle boardāyes, paddle board.
Back at home, her noble steed isnāt a horse, but a robo vacuum.
From runt to royalty, Princess may have started small, but in her world, sheās always been the queen. š¶

Kimber šš¾
Miss Kimber is showing more of her quirky, lovable personality every day! Sheās officially mastered the art of sneaking shoes out of the closetānot to chew (yet š
), but just to relocate them to more interesting spots in the house. We're calling it "interior decorating: puppy edition."
Sheās still figuring out this whole "fetch" thing... mostly because sheās far too fascinated by what the older dogs are up to. Watching them seems to be her favorite pastime ā like sheās taking mental notes before she joins in. š¶
Kimber is an absolute doll and such a joy to have around. Every day with her is a little brighter, a little goofier, and full of love. ā¤ļø
We can't wait to see how she continues to grow and blossom!

Freddie š Freddie was the only "dead grass" in the litter ā a golden puffball in a sea of darker pups. But what he lacked in camouflage, he made up for in sparkle. With his bright blonde coat and big golden eyes, Freddie is impossible to ignore ā a total blond bombshell in dog form.
Freddie quickly proved he was more than just a pretty face. He had personality. He adored his brothers and sister, always ready to wrestle or snuggle. But more than anything, he loves water ā especially the shower.
Freddie has slid effortlessly into his role as the spoiled bed hog, happily sprawling across pillows like royalty. He claimed his seat as the permanent āprincess passengerā in the car ā window down, tongue out, living his best life.
But don't let the cute face fool you ā Freddie had quirks, he farts a lot. But who could be mad at that face?
What Freddie loved most in the world was doggie daycare, it's his social scene, his gym, his party. And the trampoline is his kingdom.
| | Iris š has blossomed into a sweet & adventurous companion who balances boundless energy with affectionate cuddles and kisses. Ever helpful in her own way, she diligently alerts her family to any forgotten items on the floor or too close to the edge of the counterātypically with her teeth! Despite her loving nature, Iris has a stubborn streak that shows whenever she sets her mind to something. She thrives in the company of her siblings, with whom playtime is never dull. Her irresistible attraction to water means no puddle goes unsplashed, and her enthusiasm for fetch games showcases her playful spirit. | | Leroy š makes us laugh every single day! He loves to chase his tail, and play with his brother, Boone, although he doesn't quite understand when enough is enough. He loves all people and dogs, is so smart and quick to learn, still working on his leash walking and not pulling my arm out of the socket when he sees a squirrel. He still gets car sick, but its getting better; and has gotten much smarter and stealthier with his counter surfing technique. He is my shadow, follows me everywhere, sleeps under my desk when I work which worked well when he was a puppy, but he's getting a little too big now - but he makes it work! Leroy brings me my shoes when he is ready for attention which is all the time and just brings a smile to everyone's face. Love him to pieces. | | |
Loon š I never imagined that the little demon who growled at other puppies while sitting on me would turn out to be such a gift. After losing a soul dog, itās never easyābut Loon, aka Blue Loon or Lunatic, filled that space with her full-toothed smile and love for "Roo-ing."
She proudly carries socks like prized trophies without ever chewing them, scatters her stuffies everywhere, and learns new things with ease. Sheās a travel pro, and a sneaky river swimmer who gives the coldest, wettest hugs.
Loon is a fearless adventurer, a squirrel chaser, and a social butterflyāor just a happy shop dog hanging out with me. Sheās larger than life, with no concept of personal space. We canāt wait to see where her next adventure takes us.
RIP to Loon's brother Scout, who sadly passed away this week. He was a good boy and will be deeply missed. Run free sweet Scout.
| | Good-bye to our beautiful Alumni | | |
Thank you for all the support with Goliath. I want to thank you for taking in Goliath/Sugar Bear and getting him away from his other terrible home. I also want to thank you for letting me adopt such a beautiful and sweet loving chessie. Our time together was short but full of love. Sugar Bear gave so much love that I was very blessed and thankful for our time together. He was my best buddy and always at my side. We went everywhere together.
Sugar bear will be missed but never forgotten. I also want to thank everyone with the chessie rescue for their love and support.
Rest in peace my Sugar Bear, my love is eternal. Joel

In Loving Memory of Rainee | |
Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to one of our beloved alumni, Rainee.
Rainee was the kind of dog who didnāt just live lifeāshe made it richer for everyone around her. A true Chessie through and through, she was sweet, tough, headstrong, and endlessly loyal. She had a knack for knowing just what her person neededāfrom fetching a book or shoes at just the right time to helping make a fire by bringing yesterdayās newspaper. Her intelligence and thoughtfulness never failed to amaze.
She loved her peanut butter Kongs, prancing proudly around the house with her empty food bag, and using her bowl as a pillow after dinner. Whether she was enjoying kayaking, swimming at the river, or working through a Rally course (especially when treats were involved!), Rainee did it all with joy and heart.
Rainee was sweet and tough to the very end. Even as cancer slowly wore her down, she wanted to keep living her best life. Just this past Friday, Saturday, and even today, she still asked to go for car rides and short swims. Though walking had become a trial, she insisted on joining her person at the barn for chores every morning and night. Her spirit never wavered, even when her body began to fail.
She was deeply loved by her Mama Donna, who gave her the kind of life every dog deservesāfull of adventures, care, and unwavering companionship. Thank you all a million times over for letting her come into my lifeāDonna just wishes it could have been for many more years.
Weāre so grateful Rainee was part of our rescue family and will always remember her with love.
Run free, Raineeāyou were one of a kind
