 Scout Shabbat

Join us on August 23rd for a scout themed Shabbat and oneg! We will be celebrating our own CBS Scouts past & present. If you would like to participate in the service or donate to the oneg please contact Lisa Ohlhausen for more information.


Tot Shabbat , Saturday, August 24 

We are happy to start hosting Tot Shabbats again for the community! These fun, engaging opportunities for families to come together on Shabbat will kick off on August 24. Beber Camp

Are you interested in sending your child away to a great Jewish summer camp? Beber Camp, located 20 minutes outside of MIlwaukee, WI, will be hosting an information meeting at the house of VP of Education Arnoush Javaherian's house here in Naperville on Wednesday, September 4th at 5:30pm. Parents and their children are encouraged to attend to learn all about Beber Camp and ask the administrative staff any questions they have. Pizza will also be served! Community Craft Night - A NEW monthly gathering of friends, BYO-crafts and creative spirit

Sunday, September 8 @ 6pm at Congregation Beth Shalom in Naperville. $5 per person. Open to CBS members and friends but please RSVP online.

Whether you paint, sew, draw, sculpt, write, knit, crochet, bead, etc., bring your own project to work on and hang with us! We will provide the friends, space and light snacks.


CBS Mini Olympics Open House

Sunday September 8th, following Sunday School. 12-130pm.

Chesed and Tikun Olam

Our Tikun Olam hero of the week is Dr. Joe Davis. On Sunday, September 8, he will start his 17 th year leading the Adult Education class – “Timeline of Jewish History”. Dr. Davis’s commitment to Jewish education and history is not only commendable, but it has been a blessing for our congregation. His ability and willingness to devote his time and energy to share his knowledge and insights has benefited us all. Thank you, Dr. Davis, for your commitment to CBS education. We appreciate your efforts!

Ongoing Social/Education Programs

Timeline of Jewish History - Semester VII

Dr. Joseph Davis will once again be teaching this popular series that has been taught for the past 16 years! The starting date for the first class of the free adult education class entitled "Timeline of Jewish History - Semester VII" is Sunday Sept 8, 2024. The course is every Sunday at 9:00am - 10am on Zoom and goes through November 17, 2024. Click here for the course flyer for your information.

High Holiday Preparation: Exploring the Themes of the Days of Awe


Dates: Thursdays Sept. 12th, 19th, and 26th from 7:00pm - 8:15pm


Faculty: Rabbi David Eber


Cost: Free for CBS members, $36 for general public

Description: Prepare for the spirit of the High Holidays, also known as the Yamim Noraim, the Days of Awe. Together we will explore some of the themes and texts of the High Holidays, with room for each person to find their own personal connection to these texts, the intentions behind them, and to explore together what they ask of us in return.


This three session course aims to help participants establish a spiritual framework from which to enter the high holidays.

Genesis (Bereshit) Part II - The Story of the First Jewish Family

When: Wednesdays from 7:00pm - 8:30pm, Sept 4th - Nov. 20th (off for Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot, course doesn't conflict with Yom Kippur).
