In Case You Missed It
Rabbi Kleinbaum: "Let us do all we can to keep our light that's inside of us. Remember it's a sacred light of G/d, of holiness. Just keep blowing on it. Keep it lit. Somebody else's light needs yours. Light that light, which will light another one, which will light another one. May each of you tend your own personal light with kindness, and with compassion, and with love. And know that we need your light in our world."

Miriam Gideon's Vay’chulu, from Bereshit (Genesis) 2:1-3, is a masterful composition that blends Torah trope (cantillation) with a joyful and imaginative piano accompaniment that features quartal harmonies (intervals of fourths).

The text, which is chanted every week at the beginning of the Shabbat evening Kiddush,
is a beautiful description of the holiness and rest of the seventh day of creation. Vay’chulu is taken from Gideon’s Shabbat service, Shirat Miriam L’Shabbat, commissioned by Park Avenue Synagogue in 1974.
