Sisu v’simchu b’Simchat Torah, utnu kavod laTorah
Rejoice and be GAY on Simchat Torah, thus we will give honor to the Torah!
Join CBST to celebrate the annual reading of the cycle of the Torah, this year with an intimate and artistic approach! Soferet (one of the world's first and few female scribes) Rabbi Linda Motzkin brings us inside her scribal studio to teach CBST about the creation of Torah scrolls, before even the first letter is written. Our evening service will begin with Havdalah, and together we will mark the completion of the year-cycle of reading Torah, with our Adult B'nai Mitzvah students and teachers reading the last blessings of Deuteronomy and the first awakenings of Genesis.

As we learn in the famous story of Talmud Brachot, Bruria challenges her husband Rabbi Meir to re-imagine what we should pray for in the face of evil people. "The death of a particular sinner isn't going to get rid of the sins on Earth. ... Our job is to pray that evil people repent from what they're doing, therefore those sins will disappear and those evil people will no longer be evil. We think of the 220,000 people who have died from this virus, many of those deaths not necessary. And we pray for those who are responsible, to do teshuva, to repent, to come to a place of understanding, so that those evildoers won't exist anymore, because they have changed themselves."

We're holding one-on-one meetings and group workshops as part of our "What Matters: Caring Conversations About the End of Life" programming.
