Our September newsletter is packed with examples of how the LSU College of the Coast & Environment is working to preserve, protect and restore the coast and environment for future generations. While we have much to celebrate, we are also aware that the timing of this newsletter comes amidst recent concerns such as the 20th anniversary of 9/11, a surge in COVID cases, losses in our extended coastal family, and the devastation caused by Hurricane Ida.
Our college is coming together in this time of need – reaching out to help one another by donating time, talent, and financial resources. Our graduate and undergraduate students are organizing a supply drive to donate to those impacted by the storm. Several faculty, staff and students are making donations to relief efforts. I’m proud to work alongside colleagues, students, faculty, and staff who strive to make such a difference to others and to our coast and environment.
