THANK YOU for all the scrumptious food!!!
To Our Dear CCA Community,
Words can not express enough the happiness and joy we feel each Monday morning as your generous and delicious foods come pouring in to us! The entire CCA faculty and staff feel so loved and taken care of when we behold the spread in the staff lunchroom on Mondays.

We thank you so much for the food and caring you show us. CCA has the best community, and we are so grateful to you all!

Have a wonderful Fall break!

COLD/INCLEMENT WEATHER Policy -
Please Read
Happy (Snowy!) Fall!

With the rain, snow and cold temperatures coming, we wanted to remind everyone of the cold/inclement weather policy we have for indoor morning coverage this year.

If it is below 22 degrees and/or actively raining or snowing, students will come inside.  On EVEN days, elementary students will go to the cafeteria while middle school students  will go to classrooms.  On ODD days, elementary students will go straight to their  classrooms and middle school students will report to the cafeteria.

Now is also a good time to remind your students to dress for the changing season.  Think warm coats, mittens, leggings, pants instead of shorts, hats.

ORIGINAL WORKS DEADLINE EXTENDED!

Original Works ordering has been extended to Wednesday October 18th.

Why should you participate in this program?
This is an investment in the creativity of your student and also boosts their self-esteem!

In addition, part of your purchase goes to CCA's PTO.
With these funds, PTO sponsors events such as CCA Carnival, Donuts with Dads,  Muffins with Moms, the CCA Multicultural Festival, Thanksgiving Baskets for Teachers,  to name a few. Fundraising monies are also invested back into the school through a grant program for teachers.
Why not enjoy your student's artwork while helping CCA?

These products are wonderful keepsakes!
They make great Holiday Gifts and other special occasions gifts.

If you forgot to turn in your orders last week, please do so by Wednesday, October 18th

HARD HAT NEWS - Floor and walls this Week!!
Weekly Construction Update for 10/14 - 10/21
The planned schedule from last week was delayed due to the snow.

Monday 10/16: Complete spreading gravel for basement slab on grade.
Begin installing foundation insulation on exterior of foundation walls.  We may have a few additional haul trucks bringing in gravel, otherwise traffic should be minimal.

Tuesday 10/17: Prep basement slab on grade.
Lay vapor barrier, install reinforcing wire mesh, install bond breaker/expansion.
We expect a lot of personnel, but low vehicle traffic.

Wednesday 10/18: Place concrete for the basement slab on grade!
Lane closure will be in effect first thing in the AM to accommodate staging trucks.
Concrete pump truck will arrive at 6:15 am.  First concrete truck with 1 CYD of pump prime grout to arrive at 6:45 am. Concrete trucks will begin arriving at 7 amin 20 minute intervals.
We will stage trucks in the closed lane until we are ready for them inside the fence.
We hope to be complete with the pour by 1:00-1:30 pm.

Thursday 10/19: Minimal work on site, clean up and material staging only to give the new slab a day of cure time before work proceeds on it.
Minimal traffic.

Friday 10/20: Steel erection begins!    Minimal traffic on site, a few foreman trucks entering the site only.

Saturday 10/21: Continue first floor steel erection.

TRAFFIC/SAFETY:
JHL has planned ahead to minimize the impact to normal school operations, including traffic. Morning drop off and afternoon pick up will not change. JHL has scheduled all deliveries and truck/equipment traffic outside of our drop off and pick up times.

JHL created a safety video for our website, highlighting the efforts JHL takes to separate students from the construction as well as their thorough background checks for their employees, and other important efforts being taken to ensure a safe construction site.

JHL, DCS, RTA architects, and CCA leadership meet and discuss new construction tasks that involve safety matters at weekly Owner, Architect, Constructor meetings to ensure the safest site possible.

TOURS:
We are working with JHL Constructors and DCS, CCA's Owner's Rep, to schedule monthly tours for anyone interested in walking the project to hear and see first hand the progress being made. These tours will be held immediately following our regularly scheduled monthly PTO meetings. A PTO tour was held on Friday, 9/15. The next tour date will be 10/20 immediately following the PTO meeting.  Remember to wear close-toed shoes to participate!

STAY IN TOUCH:
Questions?  Please feel free to  to email  or check out our  project website . There are exciting new photos posted!
FROM THE BOARD
Enter Your Volunteer Hours Each Month
Please remember to put in your volunteer hours for the year, starting July 1,  2017.  You can enter one entry per month to make the entry easy.    Click here to log your hours and to find volunteer opportunities.  Please note that attendance at CCA Board meetings (2nd Tuesday of the month, 6:pm), Board Committee meetings (dates posted on the website) and PTO meetings (3rd Friday of the month,  8:05 am) count towards volunteering. Your volunteer account will show 20 hour commitment for each person.  The dual-family commitment is 40 hours and we will add both spouse accounts together, so if you choose to do the other 20 hours for your spouse, that will work fine.

Did you know that some of the grants CCA applies for ask for number of volunteer hours?  So if you volunteer more than the required hours, keep entering those hours.  Plus, those individuals with more than 60 hours get a volunteer name badge to wear when volunteering (rather than the sticky name badge).

Thanks for all you do! CCA is a wonderful place because of volunteers like you!

The Communications Committee would like to hear from you!  In an ongoing attempt to hear the voice of the CCA community, we are trying some different times that will potentially make our Communications meetings more accessible.  The October Communications Committee meeting will be immediately following the PTO meeting on Friday the 20th at 9:am (see the agenda,  here).  All are welcome - and we are always looking for feedback as to how to improve communications at CCA.  Mark your calendars now!  (If you have ideas to share, but can't make the meeting, please email Anne Harnett, Chair of the Communications Committee at  aharnett@cherrycreekacademy.org to share your feedback).
