7th Annual CCA Service Day
|
Cherry Creek Academy held their 7th Annual Service Day this past Friday, October 6th
. This was a day our students put our Eagle Character Traits into action by giving to our surrounding community. Many of our students visited retirement centers while some played with young children at local day care facilities. We had two classrooms tidy up CCA while a bunch of our Second graders served and ate lunch with our construction workers! Tradition still held true for our neighborhood as many of them came home with homemade crafts hanging on their front doors.
What a great day it was giving back to our community.

Dear CCA Students in Mrs. Alaniz's 7th Grade Class and Mrs. Koenig's 5th Grade Class,
Thank you very much for your visit to our community last Friday on Service Day. You all were so well behaved, polite and friendly and really just so awesome!!! My residents had the best time visiting with you, creating the fantastic turkeys for their doors and eating the donuts.
As I told you before you went into our building some of my people do not have any family to visit them, you are their visitor! You were able to being people so much joy and laughter, YOU SHOULD BE VERY PROUD OF YOUR SELVES! Please go home and tell you parents that you made the world a better place at Eastern Star Masonic Retirement Campus!
We hope to visit you this spring,
Thank you!

Cold/Inclement Weather Policy - Please Read
|
Happy (Snowy!) Fall!
With the rain, snow and cold temperatures coming, we wanted to remind everyone of the cold/inclement weather policy we have for indoor morning coverage this year.
If it is below 22 degrees and/or actively raining or snowing, students will come inside.
On EVEN days, elementary students will go to the cafeteria while middle school students
will go to classrooms.
On ODD days, elementary students will go straight to their
classrooms and middle school students will report to the cafeteria.
Now is also a good time to remind your students to dress for the changing season.
Think warm coats, mittens, leggings, pants instead of shorts, hats.

The CCA PTO will be issuing King Soopers/City Market preloaded with $2.50 for each new 2017-18 CCA family. The cards will be coming home with new family students this week.
Earning money for the school is simple:
- Reload your card with the cashier before check out.
- Pay for your groceries with the card.
- Reload again next time you shop.
- Each participating store will pay CCA PTO 5% of every dollar spent every 4 weeks, if we collectively reload $5,000 in a 4 week period.
Visualize this...if 150 CCA families commit to spending $250 with a shopping card each month, our school will earn $22,500 in one year. You can help CCA fundraise as you shop for food for your family!
If you do not have a card from previous years and would like to be a part of the fundraising, or if you have any questions, please contact Rebecca Rook by

ORIGINAL WORKS and PTO NEWS
|
Original Works student artwork and order forms were sent home last week.
This program offers a simple and fun way to preserve your student's artwork.
Sample items are being displayed in the front entrance by the flags.
Why should you participate in this program?
This is an investment in the creativity of your student and also boosts their self-esteem!
In addition, part of your purchase goes to CCA's PTO.
With these funds, PTO sponsors events such as CCA Carnival, Donuts with Dads,
Muffins with Moms, the CCA Multicultural Festival, Thanksgiving Baskets for Teachers,
to name a few. Fundraising monies are also invested back into the school through a grant program for teachers.
Why not enjoy your student's artwork while helping CCA?
These products are wonderful keepsakes!
They make great Holiday Gifts and other special occasions gifts.
Please turn in your orders by this
We still need volunteers to help check the order.

HARD HAT NEWS - Our floor will be poured this Week!!

Weekly Construction Update for 10/7-10/14
Sat 10/7: Finish grade work and compaction of subgrade for basement. Masonry QC work. Cover subgrade for weather protection.
Minimal traffic.
Mon 10/9: Masonry touch up. Perimeter drain work inside foundation walls.
Minimal traffic. Mini-Excavator to be hauled out in the early morning.
Tuesday 10/10: Complete perimeter drain work. Begin slab on grade prep.
Minimal traffic.
Wednesday 10/11: Complete slab on grade prep work.
Minimal traffic.
Thursday 10/12: Place slab on grade. This will be the largest pour for this job site, we will have around 150 CYDS of concrete for this.**
Heavy vehicle traffic beginning at 6 am. We will have to have the lane closure in place all day for this. I expect 15 concrete trucks throughout the day, as trucks arrive they will be staged in the closed lane. I will have JHL personnel available to direct traffic as needed to get trucks from the street into the site. We only have room for one concrete pump truck, so this will take most of the day to place.
Friday 10/13: First floor steel package delivery. This will be spread out on two to three trucks. Steel erectors will spend most of the day breaking down steel delivery and inventorying the items.
Lane closure in effect, expect 2-3 semi trucks with steel.
Saturday 10/14: Begin steel erection.
Minimal traffic.
** Schedule is delayed due to snow on Monday.
TRAFFIC/SAFETY:
JHL has planned ahead to minimize the impact to normal school operations, including traffic. Morning drop off and afternoon pick up will not change. JHL has scheduled all deliveries and truck/equipment traffic outside of our drop off and pick up times.
JHL created a safety video for our website, highlighting the efforts JHL takes to separate students from the construction as well as their thorough background checks for their employees, and other important efforts being taken to ensure a safe construction site.
JHL, DCS, RTA architects, and CCA leadership meet and discuss new construction tasks that involve safety matters at weekly Owner, Architect, Constructor meetings to ensure the safest site possible.
TOURS:
We are working with JHL Constructors and DCS, CCA's Owner's Rep, to schedule monthly tours for anyone interested in walking the project to hear and see first hand the progress being made. These tours will be held immediately following our regularly scheduled monthly PTO meetings. A PTO tour was held on Friday, 9/15. The next tour date will be 10/20 immediately following the PTO meeting.
Remember to wear close-toed shoes to participate!

Dear Parents & Guardians.
This year we will be updating our website more frequently to assure it is engaging, informing and relevant. Our goal is to communicate our vibrant

If you are a family that is happy to have pictures of your students published on the CCA website, The Eagle newsletter and printed materials, we want to hear from you!
