All our students did well. Rayan D was awarded 1st place in the 3rd grade Individual round. Ritvik K, 4th grade, was the top scorer for CCA.

Please join us in congratulating our team:

Dear CCA Family,
One of our families has been hit with some difficult news. The Bakhrakh family, with son, Lev, who is in 5th grade and daughter, Zoe, in 3rd grade just discovered that their father Peter has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. It is operable and surgery will be performed. We can imagine the difficult times ahead, as they travel the road to recovery. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to raise money to help Peter and his family. If you would like to donate please click on the following link: . Every donation helps no matter the size. Thank you and please join us in keeping Peter and is family in your thoughts in wishing him a speedy recovery.
The Next Board Meeting is December 12th!

Mark your calendars now for the December Board Meeting on Tuesday Dec. 12 at 6:00 pm. The Board wants to remind all parents that it's not too late to fulfill your requirements to run for the Board of Directors this Spring for the 2018 - 2019 school year. In order to qualify, candidates must have attended at least two Board meetings this school year and personally completed at least half of their family's mandatory volunteer hours prior to the election process. You can begin fulfilling these requirements now! See the full Election Policy and list of Eligibility Requirements HERE. There's no better way to be involved at CCA.

If you're not interested in running for the Board, but would like to be involved, a parent volunteer is needed to sit on the Election Committee. The commitment involves one meeting a month from January through April. If interested, please contact Jennifer Bailey at

Finally, the Board Communications Committee is committed to providing the most effective communications for our CCA Community, and our last meeting was a great success with valuable suggestions and feedback shared. The Communications committee welcomes and encourages parental feedback and involvement. In an attempt to allow for more parent involvement, our next meeting will be immediately following the PTO meeting on Friday December 15 (at 9:00 am).

Happy December!

Please remember Eagle submissions need to be sent to by 8:00 am Monday morning in order to be in the Tuesday Eagle. Thank you!
4th Grade Periodic Table Wall

If you are at CCA in the next couple of weeks, check out the awesome 4th Grade Periodic Table hanging outside of Mrs. Tench's classroom. The 4th graders spent a lot of time on this project and it turned out great!
Double Teacher Feature
Mandy Lover - Kindergarten
Mandy has been a part of the CCA community for the past three years as a parent and is thrilled to join the CCA staff community as a Kindergarten teacher. Mandy has two children at CCA, a 3rd grader and kindergartner. She has been in education for the past 12 years in a variety of roles from teaching 1st and 2nd grade to supporting schools to set up Distributed and Teacher Leadership. While not at CCA Mandy and her family spend time in the mountains where Mandy and her husband met and got married- almost 20 years ago! While in the mountains her family skis, hikes (with their dog, Hazel), and hangs out with Mandy’s brothers and their children.
Matt Nolen - 7/8 Science
Matt hails from East Tennessee where he spent his childhood playing in the woods and then earning his BS of Forestry at The University of Tennessee. His experiences being outside exploring nature eventually led him to spending over a decade as an outdoor educator leading environmental science and high-adventure activities. In 2012 he became licensed to teach secondary science and now enjoys helping his students discover how and why their world works. In addition to his classroom teaching Matt also teaches children’s whitewater kayaking and coaches adult runners. Outside of the classroom Matt enjoys distance running and nordic skiing. His newer hobbies also include hunting upland birds and big game and shooting sporting clays.
Volunteers are always welcome in the Cafeteria 10:40am – 1:00pm
We have had an inordinate number of students come to school without lunch. Parents please remember that whether your child is in Kindergarten or 8th grade, it is ultimately your responsibility to make sure your student has a lunch each day.
Students DO NOT have access to a microwave; however, we do have hot water for students who bring “Cup Noodle".
Low and Negative Milk Account letters were sent home on Monday. Children will not be able to get milk if the balance due is $5.00 or more. You can access your children’s account through PowerSchool.

Go to: and log into your youngest child's POWERSCHOOL. Click BALANCE and look at "Meal Transactions" for your total.
NO glass containers in the cafeteria, please and thank you.

CCA Character Program
By Dave Loomis

For this Fly Like An Eagle article I wanted to talk about a fairly new club we have here at CCA.  This group is our Peer Mediation club . Peer Mediation started meeting back in March of this year. It consists of 5 th , 6 th and 7 th grade students who have been trained in the peer mediation process. The group is led by Karah Yamauchi and myself.  It meets every Friday at 7:15 am in the conference room.

Members of this club have learned how to mediate disagreements between students and have learned how to help resolve problems and create solutions. The students started training on this back in March. They have recently begun scheduling mediations with younger students who need help resolving disagreements. Students who need help come to me and I determine if their concern is something the peer mediators can help with. A peer mediation is then scheduled and the peer mediators and Mrs. Yamauchi meet with the students that need help.

The mediators have helped groups of students figure out how to play better.  They have resolved arguments between individual students. They have helped groups of friends get along better.  I am very proud of these students and the time and effort they have put in to this club.

If you are interested in learning more please let me know. We are looking for more members. We are currently looking to add 4 th and 8 th grade to the membership of the club. For any questions please contact either Karah or myself at 303-779-8988.

Go Eagles!!!

JHL has planned ahead to minimize the impact to normal school operations, including traffic. Morning drop off and afternoon pick up will not change. JHL has scheduled all deliveries and truck/equipment traffic outside of our drop off and pick up times.

JHL created a safety video for our website, highlighting the efforts JHL takes to separate students from the construction as well as their thorough background checks for their employees, and other important efforts being taken to ensure a safe construction site.

JHL, DCS, RTA architects, and CCA leadership meet and discuss new construction tasks that involve safety matters at weekly Owner, Architect, Constructor meetings to ensure the safest site possible.

We are working with JHL Constructors and DCS, CCA's Owner's Rep, to schedule monthly tours for anyone interested in walking the project to hear and see first hand the progress being made. These tours will be held immediately following our regularly scheduled monthly PTO meetings. A PTO tour was held on Friday, 9/15. The next tour date will be 12/15 immediately following the PTO meeting. Remember to wear close-toed shoes to participate!

Questions? Please feel free to  to email  or check out our  project website . There are exciting new photos posted!
