November 24, 2014 Volume 21, No. 18

Dear CCA Parents:
As we near the Thanksgiving holiday and I reflect over this past year, I realize that CCA has much to be thankful for.
We received another John Irwin award for Excellence in 2014 Academics. Within the Cherry Creek School District, our 2014 academic growth in Elementary school was #2 of 42 schools, and our Middle school was #1 of 11 schools. We also significantly outscored the CCSD and Colorado state averages in all four testing batteries of the new Science and Social Studies CMAS exams. In fact, our 7th grade social studies CMAS test was the highest in the state for middle schools with no pre-screening criteria.
We were able to expand our field so that there is significantly more room for CCA students to play and compete. We provided CCA middle school students with much larger lockers so that all their belongings and backpacks can now fit. We expanded our learning space by adding one more classroom inside and in December, two more in our modular building. Mother nature threw a curveball at us on September 29th. Even though the CCA building experienced severe damage in the hailstorm, we were able to get our roof re-shingled over fall break, and we will replace our damaged HVAC system over winter break.
None of these achievements would have been possible without the hard work of our outstanding students and exemplary teachers. I also appreciate the forethought of the CCA board of directors for allowing some previously planned projects to proceed ahead of schedule. I also give thanks for the generosity and dedication of the PTO and our parents. You really go out of your way to make CCA the top quality school that it is.
If you are traveling over the Thanksgiving break, please be careful. Take time to give thanks yourselves, particularly for the greatest gifts you possess, your children.
Sincerely,
Jay Cerny
Principal/CEO,
Cherry Creek Academy

Congratulations to CCA teacher, Jodi Peterson for being selected to serve on the Star Teacher Council for 2014-2015.

Through a partnership with Microsoft, the Cherry Creek School District is now providing students the opportunity to download and install Microsoft Office for FREE!
Students can use their Cherry Creek School District Office 365 account to download and install a full version of Microsoft Office software, including: Word, for writing; Excel, for spreadsheets; PowerPoint, for presentations; OneNote, for organization and note taking; and much more. The program allows Office to be installed on up to 5 computers, including Macs and Windows-based devices, and used on up to 5 mobile devices, including iOS (iPad/iPhone) and Android devices.
The software will stay active as long as the student remains enrolled with the Cherry Creek School District. Instructions on how to download/install and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) can be found on the Cherry Creek School District's website by clicking HERE.
Whether you download to your computer or your mobile device, your student will need their student email address and password (i.e. student number) to take advantage of the program. As a parent, you can look up your student's email address and student number (i.e. password) by going to my.cherrycreekschools.org. Login to my.cherrycreekschools.org using your parent login (username: [STONEWARE], if you need to reset your password, click here). 5th & 6th GRADE SKI PASSPORT
| |
Colorados Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) is proud to open the 5th- & 6th-Grade Passport Program for the 2014-15 season. CSCUSA believes every child who grows up in Colorado should have the opportunity to enjoy the state's signature winter sport.
This year, Colorado Ski Country USA's 5th Grade Passport Program provides participants with three free days of skiing or snowboarding at each of our 20 member resorts. Ski all 60 days or just a few; the 5th Grade Passport is still the best value in Colorado.
If your student is in 6th grade the Passport Program provides participants with four days of skiing or snowboarding at each of our 20 member resorts for a mere $99. That amounts to 80 awesome days on the slopes for a mere $1.25 per day. There is not a better deal on the planet for 6th graders than this one.
For more information click on this link.
