Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. Although the start end dates can vary slightly depending on the organization and source, Red Ribbon Week generally takes place the last full week in October. Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives.
Cherry Creek Academy celebrates Red Ribbon Week by having students going out into the community and developing service projects that benefit various organizations. This year CCA Service Day is Wednesday, October 21st.
Please note that the 21st is a regular school day for students but no lunch will be served. All students must bring their own lunch from home.

Lost and Found is over flowing. Please check to see if any of the items belong to you. All items left in Lost and Found after October 23rd will be donated to charity.

Please send in any box tops you have with your student. Box Tops will be shipped off at the end of October so please submit any you have before fall break! Please try and submit them sooner than later as they need to be clipped, sorted, and counted before submission.
CCA receives the check by December only if the fall 2015 box tops are submitted by
Nov. 1st. Write your teacher's name and grade on your students box tops bag. The class with the most box tops submitted will receive an ice cream party! Yay for ice cream.
Also I need help counting! It takes hours believe it or not because there are so many submitted. This is perfect if you have young kids at home and need volunteer hours please contact me via
missyshafi@yahoo.com. you can take home box tops and count them. We can also meet at my home and count them together. Please contact me if you are interested.
Thank you -
Melissa Shafi

The PTO is looking for parent volunteers for the Snowball Dance committee. If you are interested in joining the committee to help with the Snowball Dance for grades K-5 in January, please contact Julie Borisov at
jborisov@cherrycreekacademy.org
Or if any parents would be interested in donating services for the dance (i.e. DJ, party planner, decor, catering, photos) that would be most appreciated.

Do you have some time over Fall Break PLUS own a sewing machine? Mrs. MacFarland has smocks that need 'double-up stitching' on their straps. This is a very easy task that will greatly benefit Mrs. MacFarland's art classes. Please email Mrs. MacFarland and let her know if you are able to assist and she will get the thread and smocks to you.

The CCA Student Council is collecting Coats for Colorado until November 30th. Please bring any gently used coat that you wish to donate to those less fortunate this winter. Coat of all sizes are needed; men's, women's and children's. Size XXL is especially needed. There will be boxes placed at the front entrance for you to pace your donations in. Thank you in advance for your support.

September Minutes Link
Volunteers needed! PTO is looking for parent volunteers for various events throughout the year. Please use the link below for the PTO Volunteer Interest form to tell us which volunteer opportunities you are interested in.
Event chairs will use this list to recruit volunteers throughout the year.

Dance Club will be starting on Tuesdays after Fall Break. This year we plan on learning a hip hop routine to a Star Wars mix to perform at Multicultural Festival.
Dance club is open to boys and girls from grades 2nd - 8th. If your child is interested, please contact Jenny Sunker by following the google docs link and filling out the form.
We also need parental help. If you need volunteer hours and would like to help us choreograph, teach or help with costuming please note that on the form. Thanks!

Enter Your Volunteer
Hours Each Month
Please remember to put in your
volunteer hours for the year, starting July 1, 2015. You can enter one entry per month to make the entry easy. Click
here for the link to log your hours and the link to find volunteer opportunities. Please note that attendance at CCA Senate board meetings (2nd
Tuesday of the month), Senate Committee meetings (dates posted on the website) and PTO meetings (3rd
Friday of the month) count towards
volunteering.
Your volunteer account will show 20 hour commitment for each person. The dual-family commitment is 40 hours and we will add both spouse accounts together, so if you choose to do the other 20 hours for your spouse, that will work fine.
Did you know that some of the grants CCA applies for ask for number of volunteer hours? So if you volunteer more than the required hours, keep entering those hours. Plus, those individuals with more than 60 hours get a volunteer name badge to wear when volunteering (rather than the sticky name badge).
Thanks for all you do! CCA is a wonderful place because of volunteers like you!
