Board Update & Vacancy Notice: We Need You!
|
|
As the board has communicated over the past few weeks, Dr. Ann Schultz will be joining the CCA team as our Executive Director this fall. Dr. Schultz is in the process of relocating from Wisconsin and will assume her new role as Executive Director on September 24. The Board looks forward to a successful transition, and will communicate opportunities for the CCA community to better get to know Dr. Schultz in the upcoming weeks.

The CCA Board had a member leave over the summer and WE NEED YOU! Vacancies happen from time-to-time on the board and this summer we had a member leave. A vacancy is different than an open election. Since our board members serve three-year terms, a vacancy is tied to a specific board member’s position and therefore the vacancy would be for the remainder of that term. An open election, that we just did in May 2018, happens at the end of the three-year term. The current vacancy the board has is the last year of a term. As stated by our school by-laws, a Vacancy Committee was appointed at the August 14, 2018 meeting to govern the process to fill this vacancy.
The Vacancy Committee is soliciting nominations for the vacancy. If you are interested, please click
here
to download the
Nomination Form
.
Click
here
to submit your completed Nomination Form.
You are also welcome to click
here
to submit questions to the Vacancy Committee, as well as reach out to any existing board member to ask more about the role of a board member. There is also a
Board Frequency Asked Questions
document for your reference.
The overall Vacancy process will be conducted as follows:
- Call for nominations start August 21, 2018
- Nominations are due by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2018
- Vacancy Committee Review Process (after September 4th deadline)
- Committee will review all nominations
- Committee, if needed, will interview qualified nominees
- Committee will decide on top candidate to put forth to the CCA Board
- CCA Board will vote on top candidate at soonest possible board meeting (targeting September 11th but process could take until October)
Note: this timeline can be extended or the steps altered by the Vacancy Committee, if needed, but changes will be communicated via the Eagle if they are needed.
Click
here
to review the CCA Board pages on the CCA website for more information about the Board. To determine qualified nominees, the Vacancy Committee will consider the following:
- Nominee meets most or all of the candidate eligibility requirements used in an open election.
- Nominee can serve the remainder of the open term (1 year in this case)
- Nominee fills any specified professional skills gaps the Board may currently have
- Nominee is capable and willing to uphold the mission of CCA and abide by the laws, policies, and guidelines required of a board member.
Thank you in advance for considering serving CCA in this way,
Vacancy Committee:
Vaidee Mahadevan – Board Representative
Andrea Evashevski – Board Representative
Olga Voytashevskaya – School Accountability Committee (SAC) Representative
Natallia Prokin – PTO Representative
Annemarie Mahan – CCA Administrative Team Representative

Another Means for Finding Carpools: Schoolpool
|
|
Tired of the daily drop off and pick up lines.
We have a solution to cut down on the traffic.
Join Cherry Creek Academy’s Schoolpool program to connect
with other families to drive, walk or bike to school together.
We are pleased to partner with Schoolpool, a program to help parents get their students to/from school. It’s free and there is no obligation to participate. Schoolpool is a service of Way to Go, a federally funded program of the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG).
How does Schoolpool work?
Create an account and register your household address or intersection here:
https://mywaytogo.org/s/schoolpool-cherry-ceaf14
(To maintain the highest level of privacy and security, this link is the only way for Cherry Creek Academy participants to register.)
Add comments to indicate special requests or preferences, such as “can provide morning rides in exchange for afternoon rides,” “student is in after-school actives,” or “looking for a walk buddy in the mornings.”
Find and contact any families that are in your neighborhood or along your drive to/from school who are also looking for a carpool.
Cherry Creek Academy has partnered with Way to Go to offer this program to our parents as a free service with the goal of reducing traffic congestion and minimizing the stress of getting children to and from school. Rest assured, your information will only be shared with participating Cherry Creek Academy families. No one else will ever see your information, unless you elect to share your information with families at other schools.
Information is provided for your use only. Cherry Creek Academy and Way to Go do not run background checks, confirm valid driver’s licenses or assess insurance coverage on participants. Potential users are advised to screen participants to their personal satisfaction and check their own insurance coverage for carpooling to ensure that they are covered under these voluntary arrangements. No drivers, vehicles or insurance are provided.
The Schoolpool secure mapping service can be used for trip planning, or emergency trips and is a great resource to meet nearby families for other reasons such as play-dates and baby sitters.
The more families that register, the more likely you are to find good matches.

I am so excited to join Cherry Creek Academy this year in the 4th grade! I am a Denver transplant from Ann Arbor, Michigan (Go Blue!)
I came out West to get my Masters at the University of Denver in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Aesthetic Learning. I completed my undergraduate degree at Denison University in Education and Psychology, where I played field hockey all 4 years.
Then I took a job in Chicago working for a non-profit in Chicago Public Schools. I spent some time in Armenia to volunteer and develop my Armenian language skills.
I am excited to get to know everyone and work together this year.

Hello CCA! My name is Jacki Nusbaum, and I teach second grade.
I’m originally an Iowa farm girl, and after graduating from Iowa State, I moved out to Colorado to begin teaching. I have an energetic four-year-old son, Blake, and an animal-loving one-year-old daughter, Josi. We have two fluffy cats and a big, sweet Swiss mountain dog in our family.
In our free time, my husband and I love taking our kids hiking, swimming, biking, and going to the museum or zoo. I also love yoga, painting, reading, and trying new home-made cookie recipes with my son.
I’ve been a teacher at Cherry Creek Academy for a total of about seven years. I love second grade and my CCA families!
