SAC Surveys:
CCA Wants to Hear from YOU!
CCA is excited to provide an opportunity to collect feedback from you regarding our teachers and the school environment. The Teacher Feedback Survey data is used to provide feedback to teachers and is part of their performance evaluation done by the Executive Director and Assistant Principals. This survey contains only 5 questions. The Climate Survey data contains questions about the CCA administration team, school communication, academic instruction, school safety, and other aspects of the CCA environment. Responses from the Climate Survey are reviewed by the School Accountability Committee, CCA administration, and the CCA Parent Board to guide future improvements to our school. Both surveys are administered at the same time.

The link provided in an email sent on January 8th from and the text message from 231-77 will take you to the Teacher Feedback Survey for Parents. At the end of the survey, you will then click another link to go to the Climate Survey. Both surveys should not take longer than 30-60 minutes to complete, depending on the comments you add. You are allowed to enter 2 hours of volunteer time for taking both surveys.

As a parent-involved charter school, this is your chance to help provide both positive and constructive feedback for CCA teachers, the administration, and the Parent Board. Note that both surveys are intended to be filled out by parents, not students. The surveys work best taken from a computer and not a hand-held device, e.g. iPhone. Both surveys will be closed at midnight on Sunday, January 20th.

2018 - 2019 Yearbook Art Cover Contest:
Artwork due FRIDAY, January 18, 2019
Dear CCA Students and Families,

Once again, it’s time for the yearbook art cover contest! The winning artwork will be our front cover of the yearbook and both 2nd and 3rd place will be featured in the yearbook.

A few things to keep in mind regarding the contest:
  • The theme this year is “Learning today...Leading Tomorrow.” This theme should guide the creation of the artwork and must be included/written somewhere within the art. Tip: Please make it easy to read!
  • Artwork needs to be completed on regular size (8 ½ x 11), flat printer paper.
  • All artwork must be original hand drawings or paintings by the students (no help from parents).  No digital artwork will be accepted.
  • Please make sure artwork is completed in color, not black & white. Note that artwork will be scanned for yearbook publication - when considering use of water colors, oil, crayon, colored pencils, etc.
  • For entry into the contest artwork should be given to students’ homeroom teachers or to the front office.
  • The deadline for students turning in artwork is Friday January 18, 2018.
  • The student with the winning artwork (1st place) will receive a free yearbook and will be notified/announced in the Eagle.
  • PLEASE WRITE YOUR NAME, GRADE, AND HOMEROOM TEACHER ON THE BACK OF YOUR ARTWORK. We will return all art and want to be sure the proper credit is given in the yearbook!
  • The artwork will be put in three grade categories for judging K-2nd, 3rd-5th & 6th-8th

We look forward to the students’ continued participation in the creation of the yearbook!

Thank you,
The CCA Yearbook Committee

Shark Tank at CCA
On Monday, January 14, 2019, Mr. Mahan and the CCA sixth graders participated in one of CCA’s most anticipated classroom activities, complete with a real life venture capitalist, V. Patel. Mr. Patel is a former CCA parent and has helped create multiple businesses and invested in even more. As students presented their business plans, Mr. Patel and CCA staff acted as Sharks bidding on the students’ business proposals.

This cross curricular activity incorporated math and history in a very exciting way for students and staff alike. The economics unit in sixth grade provides students with an introduction to capitalistic markets, socialist ideology, and communist philosophy. To delve deeper into capitalism, Mr. Mahan, CCA’s history teacher, utilizes a Shark Tank like activity to enhance student understanding and make the curriculum come to life. In Mr. Loomis’ math class, students prepared for their presentations by calculating cost, profit, net worth, and projected expenses.

There is no doubt that many CCA students are future business entrepreneurs!
CCA students, from left to right, Daley H., Ayah A., Sanvi S., and Hyo Jae L. smile big as they celebrate their deal for Dash, an allergy detecting smart watch, with Mr. V. Patel.
The CCA PTO Needs Your Box Tops!
The CCA PTO collection bins are in the front area at CCA.

Let’s help our kids earn a free dress day this year!

Keep in mind you can earn Box Tops through the App (available on Apple and Android).
