A Message from the Colorado League of Charter Schools' President
Dear charter school members and friends,

As we conclude the 2017-18 year, I want to take this opportunity to celebrate something very special about Colorado. After living in five other states and serving in several national positions, I believe that this is something quite unique that the Centennial State has to share with the nation.
On Tuesday morning, I had the opportunity to host four distinguished Charter School Champions at the Cherry Creek Academy, a charter school with 600 students in grades K-8 that is among the best public schools in the state. It is the Academy's last week of school before summer break so the event was a wonderful opportunity to mark the end of a successful school year.

The four Charter School Champions are Senator Owen Hill, Representative Brittany Pettersen, Representative Lang Sias and Senator Angela Williams. Representative Pettersen and Senator Williams are Democrats while Senator Hill and Representative Sias are Republicans. The awards were conferred by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools and presented by my colleague, Dan Schaller, the League's director of governmental affairs.

Hill, Pettersen, Sias and Williams received the awards because of their sponsorship of Senate Bill 17-1375, the new law that says Colorado charter schools should receive their fair share of local mill levy override funds. During their remarks, all four state leaders emphasized the same thing - albeit in different words and with distinct voices. They spoke with conviction about the importance of advancing equity, creating quality choices for all families, and doing what is best for every child in Colorado.

So what is that unique thing that separates Colorado from so many other states?
Our state policymakers on both sides of the aisle have been modeling the right values and leadership for many years now. As they see it, ensuring that every child has access to a quality education is simply not a partisan issue. Charter schools are public schools, and they bring new choices to students and families - choices that we really need.

To remain a global leader in the 21st Century, America must embrace new ways of serving a school-age population that is far more diverse than the one that we had just 30 years ago. We must be able to open dynamic new public schools that prepare our young people for a rapidly changing workplace and global economy. Charter schools do just that. They give parents and educators a new level of voice, ownership and choice in public education. They give public school districts the capacity to adapt and continuously improve to meet the changing needs and realities of our families and educators.

This message is the gift that Colorado has to give to the nation. Unfortunately, we have opponents nationally and locally who would like to mislead the American people into thinking that there is something bad about charter schools. Yet the 120,000 parents, 8,000 educators, and strong bipartisan contingent of state policymakers that champion Colorado charter schools year after year know otherwise.

As we finish the 2017-18 year and enter the 2018-19 year, my hope is for the rest of the nation to learn from all of the remarkable ways in which charter schools are making public education stronger.

Greetings CCA Families,

We are wrapping up our first year of Cub Scouts with Pack 222- CCA’s own Cub Scout Pack, and we’ve had a wonderful time. Next year, our program will be expanding in some exciting ways. Family Scouting is a new model being introduced that allows both boys and girls to experience the fun and engaging scouting experience. We often have siblings attending our meetings and participating in our events. Now- these siblings can fully participate! If you have a son or daughter who might want to participate in Cub Scouts this summer or next fall, fill out  this form  and we’ll be in touch!

If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to email Jasper Peters . You can find answers to some frequently asked questions  here .
We're downstairs in the new and awesome innovation space.
Summer with Champions

If you are looking for a program for your children, Champions still has a few spots left.

You can register online in your parent account. The summer program is held at CCA. We will be closed July 4 th .

Champions Summer Break Daily hours are officially 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m .

As always, you can reach us at 720-273-9163 or .
We are excited to let you know about our new Champions Parent Portal that makes it easier for families to enroll, update their schedule, or access their account information. There have been several improvements to the system but there are a few we know our families will be most excited to see. They will be able to quickly enroll in 6 simple steps, enroll multiple children at once, and be able to connect when they are on the go with the mobile devices.
Champions before- and after-school programs give busy families peace of mind. Parents like knowing their kids are in a safe, educational, and fun environment, even when school’s not in session. We’d like to extend that peace of mind to families who are not yet attending Champions.
We’re excited to make the Champions experience available to all your families and reach out to new families that will be joining you this Fall. We are hoping you’ll help us spread the word and help guide your families to our new Enrollment Portal by linking our website to your school webpage.  This is a great way to share with families that your school has a great option for their children before- and after-school.
