$525,000 grant going to Lehigh County

Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center

On March 24, U.S. Senator Bob Casey announced a community project grant of $525,000 to Lehigh County’s Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center.


Cedarbrook is in the middle of a $67 million upgrade to their four-story building, which will eliminate communal restrooms, reduce the number of residents per room down to one or two, and make renovations in ventilation systems to protect against the spread of infection. The entirety of the project is expected to be finished in 2029.

Rural Communities Opioid Response Program 

HRSA is accepting applications for the FY 2023 Rural Communities Opioid Response Program – Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health (RCORP-CABH). The purpose of the program is to establish and expand sustainable behavioral health care services for children and adolescents aged 5-17 years who live in rural communities, and to prevent substance misuse. Review this grant opportunity.

2023 Public Comment Period for the 12-Year Program (TYP) Update

The State Transportation Commission (STC) and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation are excited to announce the 2023 Public Comment Period for the update of the 12-Year Program. The Public Comment Period is open Wednesday, March 1, through Sunday, April 30, 2023.

 

The STC recently released the 2023 Transportation Performance Report (TPR). This report contains information about how Pennsylvania's transportation system performed over the last two years.

DMVA Town Hall to Provide

 Information on PACT Act

The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) will hold an in-person Veteran Town Hall on the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act on April 4, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at the West View VFW Post 2754, 386 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15229. The town hall will also be available by phone to increase accessibility for Pennsylvania’s more than 700,000 veterans. More info. 

Act 13 Reports due on April 15

Local Government Unconventional Gas Well Fund Usage Reports required under Act 13 of 2012 will be due to the PUC by April 15, 2023. All Local Government Unconventional Gas Well Funds received in 2022 must be reported. Details about the usage reports, including all necessary information regarding the online and paper reporting systems, can be found in CCAP’s Act 13 Frequently Asked Questions or on our Act 13/Shale Gas Resources webpage. Reports can be filed electronically via the Act 13 Reporting website or via paper form. 

2023 CCAP Annual Awards

Annually, CCAP recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to county government. Nominations may be submitted from any CCAP member, associate member, county or district in as many award categories as desired by completing the CCAP nomination requirements.


Award categories include:


  • Outstanding Commissioner/Council Member
  • Outstanding Chief Clerk/County Administrator
  • Outstanding Solicitor
  • Friend of County Government
  • Technology and Innovation
  • Affiliate
  • President’s Award


The deadline to submit nominations is May 12. More information here.

The CCAP Solicitors Conference will take place on September 29 at the CCAP Office in Harrisburg.

2023-2024 NACo Policy Steering Committee Nominations Now Open (Deadline to apply – June 9)

Do you have knowledge or expertise on key county issues? Do you want to become involved in the development of national policy issues affecting counties and your residents? Consider applying to be a part of a NACo Policy Steering Committee. There are 10 policy steering committees to consider:

  • Agriculture and Rural Affairs
  • Community, Economic and Workforce Development
  • Environment, Energy and Land Use
  • Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs
  • Health
  • Human Services and Education
  • Justice and Public Safety
  • Public Lands
  • Telecommunications and Technology
  • Transportation
