The way we interact with the families in our programs can help build trusting relationships. We can help them adjust to parenthood, find resources they need, and reassure them when they have concerns. In this training, we explore what WE need to be successful with our families. We will discuss the concept of personal bias and how our preconceptions shape our conversations and interactions with families. We will examine our unique culture and how it influences caregiver behavior. We will talk about the unique needs of different family members such as fathers and grandparents who are raising grandchildren. Finally, we will look at program barriers that discourage communication between providers and families and strategies we can use to boost our interactions with other family members.

Family Child Care Collaborative
Lose Control / Letting Go
|
Date: Thursday, April 11, 2024
Time: 6:00-7:30 PM
Location: Online Zoom Meeting
Facilitator: Connie Davis, ECMPWT
Topic: This month, Dee Dee Thurber, Program Manager at Child Care Aware of NH will be joining us. This workshop is designed to have open, guided conversations about where in your day you can let go or lose control. Children will appreciate fewer interactions/directions and more autonomy throughout the day. Teachers may find more peace, calm, and an easier flow when they can let go of schedules, timelines, and lesson plans, and correct children during social interactions. It can be done AND the children still get everything they need to be successful. This allows the children to guide us in their developmental growth. We will discuss specific scenarios that will look through a lens of control vs a lens of flow.
