Monthly Minutes
July 2017
A Message from Child Care Aware of NH
The summer is officially here!  We wish you a month of picnics, fireworks and fun in the sun.

This July, CCAoNH continues to stay busy.  The Professional Development Support Coordinator is hard at work confirming trainers and securing host sites for the next Annual Training Calendar. The Child Care Resource and Referral Outreach  Specialist s  continue to diligently call programs about the 2017 Provider Update to ensure that all data collected is correct, while the Training and TA  Specialist s  work with the Progressive Training and TA Programs on their chosen topics.
Typically CCAoNH does not provide summer trainings but after receiving multiple requests, we have scheduled a Water Safety Training on July 11th. Also, with the new Health and Safety training requirements that need to be completed by September 30, 2017, we are holding Learning Communities: Online Health and Safety Technical Assistance Support meetings throughout the state. At each gathering, CCAoNH staff will provide technical assistance to early childhood professionals regarding these online modules. See below for more details on these offerings.
We will resume trainings in September but if you are looking for professional development over the summer months, please take a peek at Child Care Aware Training Academy.  This site offers online training options for early childhood professionals.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for everything you do for families and children.  We hope that you enjoy this month's edition of Monthly Minutes.

An Important Message About the
Child Care Scholarship Program

Dear Child Care Provider,
The NH Department of Health and Human Services/ Division for Children, Youth and Families/ Child Development Bureau announces the following Weekly Standard Rates for the Child Care Scholarship program, effective July 3, 2017.  NH conducts a Market Rate Survey of licensed child care centers and licensed family child care homes every two years. Rates are set at the 50th percentile of these rates based on DHHS-determined age categories. The rates provided here, effective July 3, 2017, are based on the 2016 Market Rate Survey conducted December 2, 2015.  Information on the survey, including an Executive Summary, PowerPoint Presentation and the Final Report of the survey can be found at the following link:
Some of the rates from the 2016 survey were lower than in the previous 2014 survey, so for those rates that do not reflect a change on July 3, 2017, we decided to maintain the current rate, rather than reducing the rate to the 50th percentile.
We are grateful to Governor Sununu and the legislature for the $15 million increase in the child care budget over the next two years, which allows us to implement these rates over the next biennium, along with other changes to benefit children, families and child care providers.
The Maximum Weekly Standard Rate sheet is also known as Form 2533 and can be accessed on the following web page:
If you have questions, please contact the Child Development Bureau at (603) 271-4242 or (800) 852-3345 Ext. 4242.
