Focused Collaborative Meetings

Child Care Aware of New Hampshire (CCAoNH), a program of Southern New Hampshire Services, is offering virtual Early Childhood Focused Collaborative Meetings for Directors, Administrators, Teachers, and other Early Childhood Professionals. These Meetings are group-driven to reflect the participant’s needs and interests and to provide participants with information about the focused topics. In addition, participants will learn about Child Care Aware of NH program updates, essential local and State information, and other professional development opportunities.

Topic: This month, Kate Graves, RD, LDN, the Health & Well-Being Field Specialist in the Maternal & Child Health (MCH) department at UNH Extension, Health & Well-Being will be joining us! She is going to share information about the WELL Bundle, which stands for Wellness Education for Little Learners. This is a nutrition and physical activity-focused curriculum package that her agency is offering to qualified childcare sites. She is also going to share information about other up-and-coming offerings as well! We look forward to you joining us for an exciting and informative night!

Combating Hunger with CACFP

Topic: Amy Allen will be joining us to discuss The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and how the program combats hunger and brings healthy foods to tables across the country for children in child care centers, homes, emergency shelters and afterschool programs as well as adults in day care. This federally funded program provides reimbursement to child care operators for serving nutritious meals and snacks to children in their care. CACFP contributes to the wellness, healthy growth and development of young children and adults across the country. Please join us for an overview of the program and participation requirements.

Topic: This month, Kate Graves, Health & Well-Being Field Specialist with Nutrition Connections, UNH Extension's Health & Well-Being team, will be joining us to talk about the "WELL Bundle Curriculum Package." The WELL bundle stands for Wellness Education for Little Learners. The "bundle" is comprised of in-person nutrition lessons (if interested, conducted by UNH Extension Educators), as well as a tailored curriculum for early childhood Educators to utilize based on their classroom needs. Lessons are broken down into information such as time to conduct each lesson, materials/prepwork needed, and type of activity done within the lesson.

Mindfulness and Workplace Wellness with Michele Kroll and Kristin Eberl

Topic: This month, Michele Kroll, Behavioral Health and Well-Being Field Specialist, and Kristin Eberl, Extension Field Specialist for Youth Behavioral Health & Wellness, at the UNH Cooperative Extension will be joining us.  Understanding how trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) impact working with youth is essential in creating safe and supportive learning environments. Michele and Kristin will review ACE’s and Counter-ACE’s, such as resiliency factors, as a foundation for understanding and working with the whole child. Being mentally grounded and mindful can decrease stress and anxiety. Learn different techniques that can be used in under 3 minutes while you are at work, with co-workers, or alone. These techniques can also be applied in the classroom with your kids to create a mindful culture. Resources and curriculum will be shared, including nature-based mindfulness tools and techniques, as well as ways to build social and emotional well-being within your classroom.

Topic: This month, Dee Dee Thurber, Program Manager, from SNHS Child Care Aware of NH will be joining us. She will be discussing ways for programs to make the shift to child-directed learning and play. Child-directed learning encourages children to explore topics meaningful to them. This leads to a state of flow, because they are taking steps into their own learning experiences.

  • To register use the “Week View” or Month View” and then choose which session(s) you would like to join. Please note that registration cannot be completed in the “List View”.
