Focus Collaborative Meetings
This year, CCAoNH powered by Southern New Hampshire Services is offering Virtual Early Childhood Focus Collaborative Meetings for Directors, Administrators, Teachers and other Early Childhood Professionals. These Meetings are group-driven to reflect the participant’s needs and interests and to provide participants with information around the focused topics. In addition, participants will learn about Child Care Aware of NH program updates, essential local and State information along with other professional development opportunities.

Infant & Toddler Programming and Curriculum

This month, Andrea Foster, Infant & Toddler Specialist, Assistant Director & Mentor Teacher from Mary Stuart Gile Center will be leading a conversation on how to implement a more open-ended philosophy with your youngest learners and the benefits of emergent curriculum with infants & toddlers. We will discuss how to use your observations to develop daily plans and how to create a routine that is predictable while also remaining flexible. Participants should come prepared to share their questions, goals, barriers to success and areas of success!

Topic: This month we look at “What is her Message?” and guesstimating the reasons behind challenging behavior. This session, centers on ways to identify the behaviors that are getting in the way of a child’s success within your program. We will look at tools to observe those behaviors, ascertain when a behavior transpires, how often it occurs and where it happens most often.

Topic: This month, Heather Webster, Training and TA Specialist with a focus on NHAEYC, will provide information and answer questions about the New Hampshire Association for the Education of Young Children and facilitate a conversation on Advocacy within your program and beyond.

Topic: This month, participants will be engaging in a Learn & Share discussing how Covid-19 has changed your program and what positive changes have been seen. Heather Webster from Southern New Hampshire Services, Child Care Aware of NH, will also be presenting the new Masking in Child Care Guide.

Topic: This month’s meeting is a Learn & Share participants will be engaging in a conversation about helping children solve age-appropriate social problems. A variety of strategies that are proven to be effective methods of peer conflict resolution in the classroom will be introduced and discussed, such as Pyramid Model and Peer Problem Solving. Participants should bring any ideas that they have used in their classroom that have been successful.

Topic: This month, participants will partake in a Curriculum Learn & Share session. During this meeting, participants are asked to bring a resource to share with other participants to take back to their programs. Examples may include: gross motor activities or websites you would like to share.

Topic: This month, participants are asked to attend the training, Using Your Outdoor Voice for Real Change: A Showing and Discussion of the film "No Small Matter" during our regular scheduled time slot. This is a wonderful opportunity to observe technology used to benefit the Early Childhood Community. Registration is free and through Eventbrite.

With a Montessori Perspective

This month, Juliet Fleisher, M.Ed., Montessori teacher and adjunct professor at White Mountains Community College, will be joining us. Juliet will be talking to us about the compatibility between the New Hampshire Early Learning Standards and the Montessori curriculum.

Topic: This month, Deidre (Dee Dee) Thurber, ECMPWT, Director at Chapel School, will be providing the training: Brain Gym Basics. This training focuses on “Movement is the Key to Learning”. Join us as we explore the 26 Brain Gym movements and how they can be used in an Early Childhood Settings.
