Focused Collaborative Meetings

CCAoNH, a program of Southern New Hampshire Services is offering virtual Early Childhood Focused Collaborative Meetings for Directors, Administrators, Teachers, and other Early Childhood Professionals. These Meetings are group-driven to reflect the participant’s needs and interests and to provide participants with information about the focused topics. In addition, participants will learn about Child Care Aware of NH program updates, essential local and State information, and other professional development opportunities.

Topic: This month, Courtney Porter, MSW, MEd School Social Worker, and McKinney-Vento Liaison/DCYF Point of Contact from SAU 6 in Claremont NH, will be joining us to share information and resources on the topic: Understanding Homelessness and its Impact on Children and Families. This is a powerful presentation with stories of NH families who are experiencing homelessness and what we can do to support them.

Topic: This month, participants will have an opportunity to meet Darlene Avery and Christine Conlon, Licensing & Evaluation Coordinators, from the Child Care Licensing Unit. They will share common concerns families have when they contact the Child Care Licensing Unit. They will also discuss simple things providers can do to foster strong and trusting relationships with families with open, honest, and transparent conversations about licensing rules and/or statement of findings. Darlene and Christine will end with time for questions.

Topic: This month, Shannon Desilets, Program Director for the State of NH’s Choose Love Movement, will be providing us with an overview of Choose Love. Choose Love is inspired by 6-year-old Jesse Lewis, his final acts of love, and his mother’s path of forgiveness after Jesse was killed in a school shooting. The Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement is a non-profit organization with a mission to create safer and more loving communities through Character Social Emotional Development programs that are suited for all stages of life. They offer programs that are tailored for any age from toddlers to adulthood..

Ethical Explorer: Navigating Dilemmas with NAEYC's Code of Conduct

Date: Monday, January 8, 2024

Topic: This Month, we will use NAEYC's Code of Conduct to Navigate Ethical Dilemmas in Early Childhood settings. An ethical dilemma occurs when a person has good reasons for acting in two different ways at a specific point but is only allowed to choose one of these. For example, a child who cannot have pork for lunch accidentally has a bite before you realize and remove the plate. Do you tell the family or do you not tell the family? Join us this month as we explore resolutions to various ethical dilemmas concerning children, families, and colleagues.

Topic: This month, Stephanie Therrien, Social Emotional Content Coordinator at CCAoNH, will join us for a motivating session to bring us into the new year. We will examine the slow culture movement and learn how it can improve productivity and help us achieve our goals. The goal of this collaborative is to energize and inspire.
