Focus Collaborative Meetings
This year, CCAoNH powered by Southern New Hampshire Services is offering Virtual Early Childhood Focus Collaborative Meetings for Directors, Administrators, Teachers and other Early Childhood Professionals. These Meetings are group-driven to reflect the participant’s needs and interests and to provide participants with information around the focused topics. In addition, participants will learn about Child Care Aware of NH program updates, essential local and State information along with other professional development opportunities.

Infant & Toddler Programming and Curriculum

Facilitators: Meg Atwood, ECMPWT and Bekah Kistler, ECMPWT 
This month, Amy Brooks, Early Childhood Consultant from Born2Play Consulting will be providing the training, Babies Talk. Amy will help teachers develop an understanding of intentional interactions with infants and toddlers.  Amy will also share a comprehensive guide for assessing language and communication development in these developmental stages.

Topic: This month, Melissa Clement, Chief, from the Child Care Licensing Unit, will be visiting to answer any questions pertaining to the Child Care Licensing Rules. Melissa will be also be providing information on common questions that families ask when they contact Licensing.

Topic: This month, Kim Votta, a Management Consultant, will be joining us. Kim will be sharing an introduction on cost per-child analysis; exploring the factors that determine per-child cost and what cost factors a program can and should control. She will also review how to use per-child cost analysis to make better financial management decisions.

In addition the Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program Coordinator, Nikki Peno, will provide information and answer questions about the Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program.

Topic: This month, Angela Hanscom, a pediatric Occupational Therapist and founder of TimberNook will be providing the training, The Decline in Outdoor Play and Rise in Sensory Issues. Angela will show how outdoor play and unstructured freedom of movement are vital for children’s cognitive development. Angela will offer fun, engaging ideas to enhance ways that support kids growing into healthy, balanced and resilient adults.

Topic: This month, Theresa Peck, Licensing Supervisor from the Child Care Licensing Unit, will be visiting to answer any questions pertaining to the Child Care Licensing rules. Theresa will provide feedback on changes and context to the rules.

Topic: This month, the session focuses on helping children cope with disappointment, learn strategies to understand their feelings and work through their strong emotions. We will examine strategies teachers can use to support children in the classroom and share with families. We will also explore the Teaching Tools for Young Children's Routine Based Support Guide and the Teacher’s Support Planning Sheet.

Getting Connected to Technology

Topic: This month, Donna will introduce this new Early Childhood Focus Collaborative: Getting Connected to Technology. The group will brainstorm what technology pieces they want to know most about. During this meeting, Donna will highlight engagement tool, Idea Boardz, and spotlight many of the Zoom features that we don't always get to use.

Topic: This month, Stephanie Therrien, State Lead Pyramid Model Coordinator from SNHS, Child Care Aware of New Hampshire will be joining us. Stephanie will be sharing information about the Pyramid Model framework. Studies of Pyramid Model implementation in programs show an increase in children’s social skills and a decrease in challenging behaviors.
